I feel like people need to understand that Horizons is a separate series and not a replacement

To start a new series, they really didn't have to go so hard. But they didn't take any safe option and instead opted for a completely new start that actually paid off and saying something like that about the Pokémon franchise feels so weird to say. We have a completely new story with new characters but with still enough references of Scarlet/Violet to still feel like a Gen 9 anime while making the audience want to figure out its many mysteries. Some familiar concepts taken from the past series are elaborated upon further, like the journey through regions aspect of Journeys or the big cast of Sun and Moon. The pacing is slow but almost always focused on its goals and I love it so much! We actually are getting a believable and satisfying progression for Liko and Roy so far and every step they took felt impactful because of the show's structure. The Explorers are so cool man. They are serious antagonists with tons of mysteries still surrounding them but at the same time I like that we still get some occasional lighthearted moments sometimes with the grunts, like Conia fawning over Sprigatito or Zirk being a Nidothing fan and actually using the advice Dot gave him like 20 prior. Amethio has so much potential, it really feels like he'll play a really important role. And the other Liutenents are great too. The VoltTacklers are a great group to follow and learning about them is interesting. Plus, Terastalization looks so good every time it's used. "Surpass your potential !" 👌😁 Unlike in Journeys, the pokemon are always present, even when a scene isn't focused on them you can spot them in the background just chilling and it's great because they all have different personalities that get to shyne. Sprigatito is so cute, and the cat like behavior really makes it stand out. Fuecoco is such a goofball😅, he is just perfect for Roy. Hatenna is so sweet, I love how she sounds so cute, and she is just so shy and smol❤️. Wattrel is definitely the one we need to see more, but I liked the episodes it had with Roy and Fuecoco. Quacksly always tries it's best to help Dot😅😁 Captain and Charizard are just so cool! The best duo for sure! And finally, Roy and Liko are just what I needed. Every week I'm eagerly anticipating every episode and when I finished watching it, I always feel like the longterm story lines are so much more worth it. I like it so much! ❤

Honestly I hate the new anime, but at the same time I kinda like it. It may not be ash, and don’t get me wrong, I love ash he’s my dawg, my man, my homie. But at the same time, we’ve practically said our goodbyes after Pokémon officially announced the end of ash’s journey and honestly I’m glad they gave ash the ending he needed, maybe we’ll see him again in the anime? Maybe we won’t. All I know is I love Pokémon and I’ll remember him for as long as I live 🫡

Ash Pokemon is a frankenstein of a series. Horizons however, is not a mishmash, but a directed story.

I do love that this series is not episodic. However, I'm worried that Liko and Roy aren't going to be getting much growth, seeing as someone ALWAYS comes in to save them. (We all know Ash could've solved these problems, but I'd like to see our main characters get the same treatment). Also, I'm concerned that they're not entirely sure of what to actually do with Liko or Roy, as in one of the current episodes, Liko seemingly took over Roy's goal by be given the mission to capture all the unique Pokemon...so now, what's Roy going to do? (It's almost like Goh - first he was gonna catch 'em all, then when it became clear that wouldn't work, "Project Mew" was introduced, but that failed too...). I hope this series can prove my worries wrong, and become great...however, right now, I'm quite cautious when approaching it.

Ok so I'm glad someone made a video on this because I actually agree like I AM ENJOYING THIS A LOT MORE THAN I THOUGHT I EVER WOULD! seriously after ash left I didn't think I'd ever watch the anime again, but I just gave it a chance and I'm completely in awe of it lmao, the animation, the characters and the storyline are soooo on point 🎉😌 (I'm sorry but that new opening just sold it to me as well 💀) AS MUCH AS I ADORE AND MISS ASH STILL, I just really adore this new anime and can't wait to see more

thank you for spitting straight facts i definitely think horizons is up there with sun and moon right now as the best series its looking like amethio is going to be the one that will fill that 'rival' role. although i don't really think liko and roy need one they learn and grow from their own experiences and own mistakes. More recently, getting their ass whooped with rayquaza was what motivated them to go to school. i am curious to see where they are going to take amethio's character but i think this show feels more like one piece right now just a gang of friends on a ship, going around the world, solving problems, learning and living

I feel like the Main characters of this show liko and the other one who I forgot are like ash split into two main characters.

With only a few episodes of her own, Liko is already a more relatable, and compelling main character then Ash was after 1000+ episodes. Sure I miss the old plot, traveling around a region, battling gyms a fignting in the league, all while catching Pokemon along the way, but I like this new story as well.

I only have two problems with Horizons: a) Before Journeys every series of the anime seemed to be an expanded version of what that current generation was giving us but not at all a replacement. Watching Advanced Generation gives me an excellent idea of what Gen 3 was all about for example, with Hoenn and it's new gym leaders, battle frontier, and even a return to Kanto. Every series did this well before Journeys, but at least Journeys had an excuse, being the anniversary of the Pokémon franchise as a whole and wanting to finally raise the stakes on Ash's goals. Plus I went into it thinking that the whole "not focusing on the newest region" thing was only going to be a one time thing. Then we got Horizons, which celebrates Paldea even less than Journeys did Galar. My favorite part of the previous anime series was seeing how they would expand upon the region I already explored, not just have them visit every now and then purely for promotional reasons. b) Horizons hasn't given me a reason to care. Sure it sounds like there are good characters and good plots, but I kept coming back to the original anime because I was rooting for Ash to become the very best like no one ever was. Every time I check back on Horizons it seems to be the same thing, Liko's figuring out what she wants her path to be, and Roy's figuring out what he wants to be, and they are both just handed Legendaries for seemingly no reason other than, "what's the mystery behind why they have Legendaries?" and apparently there are sky pirates or something? It just seems like a whole lot of nothing and I feel zero drive to want to see it because of it, unlike Ash who had clear goals from the get go and I wanted to see him win because of that. I knew what he wanted. Not to say characters who don't yet have goals and are simply trying to discover who they are is a bad thing, just the series as a whole now seems directionless. The only time I actually cared was when I heard rumor that Ash was going to return, but after looking into it I found nothing, as I find is typical with Horizons.

Agree HZ is great love the character backstory and that family is important in this and tons of the characters connect to each other and love that they are all treasure hunters with a huge cast of main characters. The only thing that would make this way better is a tag team or team tournament with students of 5-8 different schools structured just like the PWC or more battles between the RVT give me liko vs orla, roy vs mollie, dot vs Murdock, friede/Diana vs liko/roy or any number of combinations with the crew but besides that its great.

Pokemon Horizons is really good I personally believe that ash Should kinda have been replaced a while ago And I liked journeys XYZ Sun and Moon and almost all his series but Ash past sin oh had peaked in character So they reset him back to zero which no one liked then They brought him back to peak in XYZ and finally in Sun and moon they did a bit of both Ash didn’t have anything left to do but they squeezed him Dry they as an anime can do much more with People who still have growing to do. Ash was amazing but I’d rather we leave him to rest So he can stay great instead of just corrupting the anime in order to hang on to him

As someone who as watched Pokemon from when I was born I love horizons. Like I miss ash and stuff but I really like horizons and there is so much I wanna know about these characters. Honestly it is so fun

I like the idea of the newer series so far them looking more into the past and world building of Pokémon is a really good concept! I also like how the new protagonists (especially liko) get less side tracked

I hope the ancient champion Entei they need to find and catch is actually a paradox form of entei that will be revealed in the anime before the game.

Currently rewatching the original Pokémon series, and I am only finding out now that there’s a new series. 😮‍💨

So, I watched the first half of the series and so far, for me, the hype is gone. I LOVED that this originally was going to take place in an academy, with kids with different pokemon, and almost all starters are available to choose from for the 1st years. However, it quickly went away from that and instead we meet freed and his group. I gave it a chance and liked it and so kept watching. However, its become abundantly clear to me that Roy's character has become/ will become very pointless..... His whole reason for being there was to catch legendary pokemon like black rayquaza, he even stated that catching them was his goal. However, the show now has made that Liko's goal, which kind of makes Roy pointless. Also, if I am being honest, I think Roy gives me more main character vibes with his personality than Liko does, so I feel like the writers are just keeping him there for that reason alone and took the legendaries away from him cause they need Liko to remain the main. If he is taken out of the story than the show, IMO, loses its energy. I honestly think Roy can have his own journey and we would all watch it and love it cause his character has that main character vibe and energy. I thought this would be a series that would have both Liko and Roy in the frontlines as main characters, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Which makes sense since it's her story. I like the second pokemon's that they got, however, for Liko they didn't keep it a paldea exclusive, but for Roy they have, so maybe they will use Roy just to introduce the new paldea exclusive pokemon and Liko will get many different regions.... but who knows. I like the villans, they are not pushovers. Also, the volt crew are very good characters as well. Overall, not bad, however I just wish they kept/keep Roy more relevant. Also, lets see more of Dot!!!

One think I HATE about Pokémon (and this is coming from someone who loves it) is that ASH NEVER GREW UP……like dude, I know you want kids to relate to a 10yr boy, but not even 1 year!? SERIOUSLY? A teen and even maybe a flash of adult ash in this new series would be hype as hell, even if only in passing, because seriously let Ash have a actual relationship with Serena and let him grow up even if only a little, really wish we got to see that at least once, as for the new series, hope they don’t keep these kids as kids for decades, because seriously, character growth is often best shown visually, so by not aging ANY characters, just feels cheep

I've been watching 7 episodes of Horizons, and yeah, the storyline was definitely way more interesting and superior compared to the old ones. I wish that the storyline was like this too when Ash was around, it's kind of sad that the storyline for Ash wasn't as great as Horizons for me. Ash was done dirty to be honest.

Before horizons exist, we used to have pokemon anime where the mc isnt ash, and im kinda love it, its expanding the world of pokemon for me, ash never encounter primal groudon and kyogre but alain did because he was the main character of mega evolution special, and then theres short anime adaption of the game and also we used to have pokemon MD anime Also its kinda sad that we not seeing calyrex and the horses lore in anime, not even in movie or short

I hadn't watch all the episodes 'cus I do like the spanish dub a lot, so I'm waiting for netflix to publish more. BUT! I do like it a ton more than Ash. I hadn't watch all of Ash's series being XY one of the biggest ones that I hadn't watch, ,but still from what I had seen of him... he is a little too unmature for my liking as a protagonist, sometimes too dumb... In the new pokemon series, I love Liko, she is learning everything from the ground up and is doing it fast. I do miss the old team rocket, I just love the voice actors in spanish, they always make it feel special, different from all other dubs. Like on that episode that james had the Moltres disguise, James said "Soy Moltres el Guajolote Macias!", or when they just sang random spanish songs. Or just the simple thing that I thought it was normal until last year, the mexican version is the only one where James says "Jamememes" as his name, idk why, but is funny. Now, with the new antagonist is a more serious threat, which I do like but I kinda miss James :c

Pokemon must have changed its Protagonist decades ago. After Pokemon Orange League with Ash being a League champion and Saving the world in Pokemon the movie 2000, for me Ash's story was complete. Each Generation should have had a different Protagonist and in each Generation give a different touch to Pokemon.

Pokémon Horizons is a much needed breath of fresh air. We needed new characters and a new story instead of just doing the same thing for over 20 years. They shoulda gotten rid of Ash after Sinnoh, and not dragged him out for 26 god damned years 🤦🏻‍♂️
