Living in FL. Have a "black" brine tank with salt - and due to heat and humidity, I get a lot of bridging. I handle it with a rubber mallet to the side of the tank once a month or so. I'm figuring that painting it white will help (less heat absorption). WHAT KIND OF PAINT WOULD BE BEST TO USE ON THE TANK??? ANY SUGGESTIONS - THANKS

Roger Childres Thanks for watching & sharing your experience Roger. By chance, has the system been momentarily disconnected from the outlet recently or has your house experienced a recent power outage? If yes, this is common...your Softener will need to be reprogrammed to complete its cycle. It’s also important to know ... if you’re showering the exact time your Softener is completing its cycle, you will experience hard water & that is completely normal & ok. After the cycle is complete, your water should return to normal. Hope this helps, keep us posted! As I routinely do, I checked my salt tank to see if I needed to add salt. However, this time I saw 4 to 5 inches of water above the salt. I have a private well and recently had my well water pressure tank replaced. Could this have affected my water softener?

Bekka Nelson Thanks for watching. Your tank is supposed to have water in it. In the event that the water level is above the salt, you will just want to add another bag of salt or two. As you add salt, you will notice that the salt level rises and your water level does not. Sounds like your system is working normally. We love KZfaq! Us fellow DIY’ers need to stick together. I'm letting my brine tank go empty deliberately because I want to run a resin-cleaning cycle. It seems to be stuck at about the one fifths level. It's a Culligan. Does that go all the way dry??

Huge rookie here. Bought a house with a softener. Never had one before. Noticed hard water stains in toilet bowl. Checked and brine tank is 3/4 full of water and no salt. Oops. Do I need to empty the water before adding salt? It has been out of salt probably for 3 - 6 months honestly before i remembered to check the softener. Rookie mistake i know. Lesson learned. So confused as to next steps at this point. (Hague Watermax 60 series). Any step by step advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. You want the water to stay inside tank. Slowly add salt to your tank & bring salt level up. As the system re-generates, it will lower the water to its specified level. Once system is filled with salt & re-generated, you should not see any water. The water level will be lower. Keep us posted. 😎👍

Tremaine Rossyion Thanks for watching & congratulations on the new home. Sounds like a friendly trip to the store to purchase water softener salt is a must. Hopefully the system hasn’t been without salt for a long period of time. Add salt all the way to top of Brine tank & manually regenerate system by selecting it in the softener monitor. Gerald Jirau Thanks for watching & sharing your comment. Letting the softener go without salt for long periods of time will unfortunately begin to cause stress to the inner workings of the system. After adding salt to an empty tank, try allowing the softener to regenerate & properly equalize. This may take up to a few weeks depending on how long it was without salt. After a few weeks, if your softener is still not properly generating the water correctly, it’s possible that you may need to cut it some slack on its performance due to the system running without salt for a long period of time. 😲😲 Keep us posted! Michael Scott Karpovich Thanks for watching & sharing your comment. That’s a great question & honestly...it depends on your specific Softener. The older style Softeners allowed you to pour Salt all the way to the top. I still do that with my Softener as it’s still an older model...roughly 8 years old. We recommend reading your owners manual / paperwork that came with your Softener as it will provide the specifics in regards to required & recommended Salt levels to have in it at all times. It will even mention the recommended Salt that the engineers would like to see their users add to the system. We hope this helps. Keep us posted on what your manual says. We are curious to hear back from you. Hope to chat with you soon. Please subscribe to the channel and turn on your KZfaq notification Bell 🛎 that would be awesome thanks again! 😎👍🔧🔩

DIY With Michael Borders Thank you very much for the kind words 👍🏻 still a bit confused though ( sorry ) what's in the tank is definitely salt !! I purchased Morton's Softener Pellets @ Home Depot. Tank has like Rock Salt nuggets in there and softener pellets look a little different ? Than the rock salt. I'm guessing softener pellets is the salt ... LOL.. And I did subscribe to your channel.

Mike Remvidas Awesome Awesome & thanks for subscribing. Most people let the salt get down to a low & reasonable level & then poring the new salt product on top. We just strongly recommend not adding a bag of pellets from Home Depot one month & then a different kind of pellets the next month from Lowe’s...& so on. It’s best to find a specific brand & product & stick with purchasing & adding the same product each month! Let us know if you have any additional questions, we are here to help! 😎👍🔧🔩

@DIYwithMichaelBorders
@DIYwithMichaelBorders 6 жыл бұрын
Leroy Edwards Thanks for checking out the video Leroy! That’s a great question! As you add Salt, the water level will rise. It is important that you add enough Salt to the Softener tank to ensure you are at the proper fill level. In your case, the water level being higher than your Salt level indicates that you are able to add additional Salt. As you add additional Salt, you should notice that the water level may rise momentarily...then should settle over the next few minutes. Normal operation of the Salt tank is water level always below Salt level. Again that’s a great question! Do me a favor, if you end up adding additional Salt, let me know the update of the levels, both Water & Salt! Most important thing is that you not allow the Softener to ever get to a point where it has no Salt. It will damage your Softener. Please subscribe to the channel and turn on your KZfaq notifications that would be awesome thanks again Leroy! 😎👍
