very amazing! I knew I was in for a treat when I saw an anvil in the background. Excellent production. As a smith, you let your hammer do the talking. Good to see the ear protection. Going to check out the website. I have been looking for a steel wok since my last one broke 5 years back. My wife likes Lodge cast iron but its not for me, not for a skillet.

Cool video, quick thought/ suggestion. Check your torch. The tip nut may be loose or the bevels on the tip may not be sitting correctly in the torch. I heard a snapping or popping at the 5:35 mark. That's usually caused by the gasses mixing in the torch body. Hope this helps. I really enjoyed this video. :)
@stagecoachfarmforge2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips! It only ever popped when I put it on the gas saver between it shutting off the gas and oxy. This video is a few years ago. The popping went away at some point and I had forgotten about it.

A few Questions: 1. Why quenching the handle? Was this only for effect for the video? 2. Why heating the pan/sheet? Only a risk that the heat warps it. Better would be heating it and then flatten the bottom once more under the press One tipp at the end. Please don´t put your thumb on the handle, it will hurt your wrist in the long term. Also consider using a heavier hammer
@stagecoachfarmforge3 жыл бұрын
Good questions. Yes the handle quench was mostly for entertainment same with heating up the pan in the fire. I am learning better methods and hammer techniques. Thanks for the advice!

12G steel and the disc for an 11” is 12.625” radius with an 8” base. Give it a go! And when you get tired of beating on it I sell the blanks pressed up ready for a handle. Hoping to have blanks back up on the site soon. Have fun!
