Дело было 1000 лет назад. Представляю арабы такие пошли, троса нарубили где-то. Хренакс электросваркой заварили. И выковали дамаский клинок. Работа хорошая, кропотливо

Honestly, the wooden mallet is what made me like this video. I love watching forgery videos but this is the first time I've seen someone use a wooden mallet. Looks homemade, which is a bonus

Did you forge weld the first piece of cable with the wooden mallet? Absolutely amazing knife. It’s super unique!

@@OIFIIIOIF-VET I think the idea is not to add carbon, but to keep oxygen out off the surface of the metal due to all the wood burning. This way the formation of scale (iron oxides) is minimized which improves the chance of a good forge weld.

It’s to softly weld because cable has tons of failure points. The softer tack welding hits helps it weld successfully

the wooden mallet is to not destruct the structure of the cable, i guess.

@@stamasd8500 wood really wouldn't add carbon or prevent oxidation significantly in this instance there is too much airflow. Wood was probably used since it can apply pressure without distorting the edges of the cable too much due to how soft it is.

The first welding is done on a tree, as the tree is a heat insulator, and not so selects temperature as an iron anvil. In addition - burning, the tree burns oxygen, protecting the workpiece and pouring the flux work. This is important for welding workpieces with small parts (cable, chain).
