I always thought of tomahawks as being the thing that's half tool half weapon ... that looks more like a weapon with how thin it is... I actually like that tomahawk middle ground where it can fell trees (plural) without issue but is still nimble and agile enough not to bully it's user by using it's momentum to drag them into a vulnerable comat position. Mostly because I hike... not day hikes... more like I'm thinking about getting my triple crown (AT, CDT, PCT)... again. (Those are three trails that follow the three mountain ranges in the US... all three basically go from Mexico to Canada) these trails are months long... what you pack is how much you carry every day all day... I'm not trying to carry tools AND weapons but tools are necessary and weapons give options for self-defense (against animals as well as humans) and weapons are important if survival gets really real ... real fast... than hunting may be a food source... but a good tomahawk has all that covered in one item... hence why Native Americans and Leif Erikson's carried them. ( I chose to say Leif Erikson's instead of Norsemen or Vikings because it kinda sorta had this almost rhyming energy with Native Americans... IDK say "Leif Eriksons and Native Americans" 3 times fast and maybe you'll see what I mean. Also Leif Erikson is the Viking that got to meet Native Americans.) Anyways that was a nice piece and your a skilled smith, it was a pleasure watching. Thanks for the vid, keep up the good work.

Great video. I really liked that you show what you are making before you start hammering. That way, I can understand why you are doing it, and where you are going with it.

Some of the fine katanas use a form of San Mai forged somewhat like your folded axe eye, but the sandwich is blade steel on the outside with the soft steel completely covered on the inside. Then it is hardened high and the inner soft steel functions like a spring to keep the harder steel from breaking. It would be nice to see you forge some comparable Western blade of good thickness and mass like a katana and see how it performs. You do nice work that isn't just trophy knives and you have an excellent down to earth video presence. Keep it up.

absolutely not a complaint or a critique, but a observation: you seem mildly unsure or nervous of yourself when interacting with the camera directly. if you are, don't be bro. youve got a better screen presence than 90% of youtubers.
