So just for a bit of a change of pace and the suggestion of a patreon I decided to make something a little different. The Uruk Hai Machete From The Lord Of The Rings! Forged from a piece of leaf spring from my old truck and filmed in full HD 1080p it turned out quite well.

Oh Daniel Sun, that's bad arse. I think your bevel forging was pretty good. Not much to grind. Is it a leaf spring? How thick? Get your nerd on every now and again, why not. :)

Thank you dude its a pretty scary thing if i'm honest with ya. Its all about chopping up hobbits and that's it. If your mad strong you might get 2 or 3 good swings off but if you ain't hit Aragon by then your fucked hehe. It's just like a long axes. Its is leaf spring out of my old nissan. I took it down to 10mm or 3/8" thick and 50mm or 2" wide and its a 25" blade for easy. not sure how you like your measurements. thank you for the great comment as always.

Dan, for me, the most interesting thing about your vid, was the hot set and your flatter - did I miss your vids where you forged these or have you not done one on these - yet? Dan, not really into swords and knives but I understand that others are, I'd rather see more practical blacksmithing but that's just me. I do like your choice of cleaver and at least, you didn't make it out of Damascus. Hammer on. :0)

Thank you Phil like your honesty wish more people where like you. On videos on the top tools had planed to start but all that stuff went down with my friend and it hasn't really leveled out quite yet. Almost got the back log sorted so will be able to get on with the tools and how to's again real soon. I also will not be making a habit of making weapons but if I do the will be form films or sci fi. SO they will be a little crazy i guess. thank you for the great comment.

I've always thought that the movie design for their swords was a mistake. Orc weaponry should look more chaotic than that.

Orcs are very human like. The way they walk(bipedal) the position of their eyes and even the way they think and thus it is natural for them to use human weapons. Chaotic weapons are extremely hard to make and are nit very useful in battle, they are prone to being broken and being disarmed by a master helbardier. Matter of fact i tjink all the uruks need to win against humans are high quality armor and maybe arrows for ranged battles. They have shown to be able to bite men to death so they dont even need swords

Very late comment here, but your technique lacks authenticity. Real Auks use 2x72 belts in many grits, not an angle grinder.
