Growing up on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn this is such a common bait to see on any anglers front deck. I literally have one on 365 days a year and fish it from dirt shallow to the deepest of waters in every type of cover you can think of. I've seen so many of the professional anglers who have KZfaq channels that say how much they hate this technique and it blows my mind.

I’ve watched my Carolina rigged baits on the bottom in clear water. They usually do not rise above the bottom unless your using a floating bait. It does however have a slow sink rate after climbing over brush or dropping off a ledge.

Here in South California, fishing on the bottom is asking to get snagged on underwater hazards. It is bad enough burning through DS weights but to risk breaking off ALL that tackle of a C-rig, no thanks! I am pulling up catfish rigs, yards of line, trash, even pulled up and anchor rope attached to a concrete anchor.

The thing about the Carolina rig that I don’t particularly like, especially for less experienced anglers, is that you have a much greater chance of killing the fish because they tend to take it in deep and many don’t know how to remove the hook without hurting the fish.

@bassgeek just did a good video on cranking a Crig. I think the reason people don’t fish it , is because it’s usually fished slow, so it’s boring. What we do is tie a football head you would use for a wobble head as the weight with a red bead . Than use mono as the leader to suspend the bait more. But try cranking it at a pace that keeps it on the bottom as well , it works

Hello, I'm new to your channel, but been fishing for several years. I haven't used the Carolina rig in probably 15+ years. I don't have a boat and generally fish from the bank or a dock. The areas I fish here in Kansas there's a lot of rocks, do you recommend the Carolina rig? I usually use a Texas Rig when I worm fish.

I know this is off topic. But if Berkley could make a 3” pit boss in a baitfish color like skeets chartreuse shad that’d be great! Because I love flipping bait fish colors late summer into fall and the 3” is my favorite size. If you could pass that along to someone that’d be great! 😂
