Netley's Forgotten victorian Hospital is now a country park lets look at a Park's Hidden Past.
Take a look back in time and see with video and photo how things use to look like over a 100 years or more, old photos over laid with modern video and see the change happen before your eyes. also known as: Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley Hospital, Victoria Country Park."
After the war, the hospital continued to care for some casualties returning from overseas service. It also accommodated some Hungarian refugees in 1956, but due to its high cost of maintenance, it gradually fell into disuse, and the main site closed in 1958.
A large fire damaged much of the building In 1963, and it was demolished in 1966, with only the chapel to remain as a memorial to the hospital.
just before it was demolished, Jonathan Miller filmed his 1966 version of Alice in Wonderland in the Royal Victoria hospital.
