In a nutshell: Formal used for more professional things, (Reports, Articles, Letters) Informal used in a more casual tone (Texting a friend, Letter to family, Email to friend) Example "I am writing to apply for a position as a nurse" - Formal "I need a job" - Informal PS: For those who can't watch 4 minutes

It's disappointing in this day and age that the two characters here seem to correlate to outdated racist ideas. The white woman is more formal (professional) and what appears to be a woman of color based on both voice and appearance is informal (unprofessional) It would be a LOT BETTER and I would feel like I could share it with my students if the roles/personas were switched! Too bad otherwise this is great information.
