Fantastic segment, if I may make a suggestion. When you open the package, before you stage the item's use a marker and write the number 1 first package, 2 on second and so forth. The way I see it, when the kit needs to be used the person rendering aid may not be in the proper state of mind. The numerical sequence would help. Best wishes everyone.

I post this on every IFAK video I remember to. If youre not in a warzone with people who have already been screened and denied over diabetes... you need glucose gel in your med kit. Glucose gel comes in packets with 15g of glucose. 15g of glucose is the suggested dosage for hypoglycemic diabetic shock. And gel (unlike tablets) can be administered to an unconscious patient. Add glucose gel packets to your med kit. You will be around more diabetics than GSWs anywhere outside the military.

As a paramedic I second this. But it definitely should be in your boo boo kit and not your IFAK. I also suggest that you carry around aspirin and replace it every year. You should also understand what a stroke looks like, using the F A S T method. Know the signs and symptoms of heart attack, know what to do with a person who is having a seizure. So on and so forth basic first aid as well as some light advanced first aid should be taught in every single school. Every kid graduating high school should know CPR, and how the above mentioned signs and symptoms appear.

@@ccsniper I disagree with it being in a boo boo kit. Anywhere that cant be reached with a vehicle (hiking trail, out of the way range, etc)... hypoglycemia can be a liability at best, and a life threatening situation at worst. If it were an IFAK for the military, absolutely. No need for it. All of your battle buddies will be screened for diabetes, and they wo t be there if they have it. But civilian side, if you have diabetic friends, youll run into hypoglycemia far more often than a GSW.

It's one thing I don't carry in my IFAK, or boo boo kit, though I've been thinking about grabbing it of late. Too many people around me that could use it at some point. My daily carry boo boo kit, and IFAK are right next to each other, so it doesn't really matter which I throw it in. I added Narcan as well, because I'm apparently also surrounded by crackheads that love fentanyl and dropping out.

I love Fieldcraft survival and it’s crew I just have to say Refuge Medical has a bleeding prevention kit at 59 dollars that’s far more robust than this kit, aside from combat gauze (supplemented by 2 compressed gauze). Still a good option for a minimalist kit I just prefer the extra capability from Refuge Medicals kit that includes all of this and the cat 7, shears, and a casualty blanket.

It’s awesome that there are so many pre made kits on the market now. Super convenient. However you don’t have to fall into the trap of all these $60+ pouches everyone is selling. I keep my everyday ifak in an old Fanny pack. Not a tactical one, just an old one I had laying around. Get creative. I used to cut the bottom pant pockets off my uniforms and then just throw it in there. Wrapping all this stuff up with a Ranger band or a thick sturdy rubber band works just fine.

You should have Both an IFAK and a Boo boo kit in separate pouches. Cat 7 Tourniquets from American Rescue are best and you should have at least 2. Combat Gauze, Shears, True Israeli Bandage, Gloves, Hyfine Chest Seal (2 pack) are the minimum for Bleed 🩸 Control. Boo boo kit should include Gauze, Burn Gel, Rats Tourniquet, Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, Various Band Aids, Spray Antiseptic or Wipes, Ace bandage. Remember you must obtain knowledge to handle these Emergencies until Medical Help is found.

Definitely an area I need improvement on. As a first responder there really isn't an excuse to not have this stuff in my truck as I have a lot of real world experience in treating wounds. Everyone should have a good med kit in their vehicle.

I highly recomend Coban for sveral reasons, first I am allergic to latex and I cannot even wear a bandaid that isn’t latex free. A lot of people have this issue today. Mine came from wearing powder free latex gloves, in the ER. So i think coban is the best bet since it won’t put anyone into shock nor will it loosen it’s grip on what you are trying to achieve. Second, something you didn’t expalin is that a presure bandage is different from a turniquet. The pressure bandage should be tried first because a turniquet can cause loss of that limb because it cuts of all circulation to that extremity. Look, I was a medic in 1997-2002 in the Army, there are some things we don’t forget. Explain what’s going on so people understand how to use them, tools are not enough, they need to know how and when to apply.

Good point, although the war on terror has relieved some of the worries about Tourniquets, provided they are over 1&1/2 inches. Still need to be aware of the loss of circulation and time being a factor but it is not nearly as short as was considered before. Of course, everyone should check with an expert for the exact procedures and training.

Why not throw in a chest seal (or two)? You could easily fit it in that kit and it'd round it out much better. Preferably with one vented.
