For my dancers who need extra hold!! I'm about to make your life easier!! Two words: spin pins. They're double corkscrew shaped hair pins that you twist into your bun, and they are BEAUTIFUL. I use TWO and my hair is ROCK SOLID no matter how long it's up or what I'm doing. I've done this for auditions, conventions, college showcase rehearsals, class (usually just one pin for class), and nothing moves an inch. For reference my hair is somewhat fine and elbow/lower back length, but I've also had friends with thick hair use them with success.

As a ballerina I always have my mom do my hair for recitals because I cant do them myself(btw I'm not like a 20 year old making my mom do my hair) because they are so oddly specific, I also have really long hair which makes any style hard to do/keep in. Recently though, my dance studio has enforced a bun rule and I nor my mom have time to do that every single dance class and I have long hair so its hard to get a good looking bun that will stay in. I tried this and I'm happy so say it worked thank you so much!❤❤❤

OML!! It was the nutcracker last year and my sister usually does my hair but she had to leave to the studio early!!! One of the “ballet moms” did my hair and I was crying for a straight hour because it looked like a doorknob! I ran to my sister and she redid it. BALLET BUNS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FLAT!!

My favorite tip I’ve ever got in growing up as a dancer and now a dance teacher put the twist in the hairnet and then do the bun it’s a lifesaver I will never do my buns without putting my hair in the hairnet first especially if you have curly hair or like layers or hair that falls out of pins really easily

Ballet bun: stays in place after removing the pins and hair ties from the amount of hair gel, and gives your 6 year old a face lift from how tight it is. That was literally the standard at the studio I attended as a kid lol. Rock solid no flyaways.

Life hack: If you have shorter-ish hair you can also just shove your ponytail into a hairnet and pin it and it works all the same

Thanks for the video. I live in FLA where it's insanely hot...and I'm tired of the messy bun look. I tried this and it looks fabulous. I couldn't tell if you went clockwise with the first ponytail, then counterclockwise with the other ponytail...but, that's how I do it...looks nice and neat.

Actually, the last time I went to ballet, you didn’t need a bun just keep your hair up unless you have short hair, and it doesn’t need to be perfectly exactly like that. I’m not saying your wrong because we all go to different ballet companies with different rules, different hair.

It’s not tight enough. Ballet buns aren’t supposed to be “flat”. They are supposed to be low buns in the same “horizontal line” as your nose, and they should be very steady.
