That is the difference between developed countries where the citizens have a say unlike developing countries where the gava use you for their benefit. Right now, we have covid crisis and guess who are in the front line - foreign nurses with no nothing compared to the local benefits. Glad you touched on this topic Doc.

being on a foreign military is kinder good and bad at the same time. i dont regret being in us army for 9yrs there has been a lot of opportunities in the service, school ,pay and tons of benefits. but all comes at cost of being away from family and a high risk of ptsd and more. Kenyan army couldn't take me since i had dental issue as in missing a tooth and couldn't afford a bribe of 120k.

@@milchshake4162 Exactly what I was thinking. If this person self diagnosed his PTSD, then he has a chance. But if that's the case his original point will have a major lose edge. Real conundrum. Btw PTSD is very different than Shell Shock aka PTSD from prolonged exposure to active warfare. It would be like saying a motorbike accident and a unicycle accident are the same thing. Just because it's both called PTSD doesn't mean it's the same thing. Shell Shock and PTSD, two different things.

I feel like this dude has a good content to share but I don't think him advising people not to join the British Army is a good thing...as a soldier you can't predict your death, shit just happens in a split sec and one of your buddy is gone...I did work with the Kenya Army Ranger and I was deployed in lamu when Alshabab were killing people, we did a lot of foot patrol and I remember losing my best friend from a land mine/some in ambush ...Everything was sad but I wouldn't say I got PTSD from what I saw. To some people joining the Army it's a calling .

British is part of NATO and they are supposed to provide troops during NATO wars like in the middle east. An average Brixton had no interest in fighting a war that don't concern him or her. To fill their quota, they recruit soilders from unsuspecting poor countries like Kenya. That is what he was saying. The recruitment only happens during dire times. You sign a contract to fight for them for however long, then you return home damaged. If it was in exchange for say citizenship, at least you get something in return You faught for your country and I commend and admire your love for Kenya. Would you do the same for a war that does not affect you in any way?

@@joeOdhiambo Some jobs you just don't wake up and decide thats what you want...Joining the Army it's a calling. No matter what country you come from, them moment you take an oath to serve the country , you already know what you putting yourself into. He did get a citizenship if I'm not wrong and if he didn't then thats no accepted. I'm not blaming anyone but it's good to understand things before you put a signature . Once a soldier always a soldier, so year i'll fight .
