Randi Scott, I agree 100% with you, I retired as a law enforcement officer from Jersey, back in 2015 after 28 years of service. I remember when I was on the job, officers would speak negatively about security officers now these same officers are retired, working as armed security officers for a security company that has all the contracts for Motor Vehicles, but I understand what you're saying, these guys talk out of their ass.

He has never had a date and often gets roped in by online scammers. The highlights of his life consist of Comicon (?sp?) attendance, when he dresses up. It saddens me to realize, he really has never stood a chance. However he now has a access to a costume and a loaded weapon, as many law officers do, but with even less training than rooky cops receive! Biggest problem in private security. Three types: Ex or retired cop failing to understand the limits and abilities of private security. Still posing. Difficult around other guards. 2. Terminated or law enforcement washout. Most likely to fail and or bring lawsuit or get arrested. 3. Complete phony or false military or cop valor. Bad cops are too often allowed to quit before being fired. That way they can go to another community and become their problem. Their behavior does not change and most times those cops commit more offenses including preventable deaths. Cops and law enforcement officials know that in order to carry a gun, those individuals must prove reasonable temperament and emotional stability. So banning this man from law enforcement is not enough. Too many security guards are police department rejects who need that “law enforcement” feel by wearing a badge and a gun in order to have validation. This is dangerous and reckless to any community.

I had a friend who worked for this company, not a lot of good things about them. Plus if they're not reaching out to his former police agencies AND not answering your calls about that, huge major red flag.

The federal firearms laws are such that possession of a firearm during the commission of ANY felony will permit the individual from being banned from carrying a firearm for life. These laws rarely seem to be applied to police officers even if they use the department issued firearm. I guess it’s just a law for the tax cattle.

He’s way to hung up on a job where he wears a uniform and carry’s a gun. If he really wants a fresh start somewhere he should choose a brand new career path. Because this stuff is going to follow him around for ever as long as he’s getting jobs in this field

I feel like blanket laws in general are a bad idea. It depends on what an officer was decertified for. I've seen some departments where guys got hounded and eventually decertified not because they were bad cops, but because they didn't fall in line or follow orders that they felt were unethical. My buddy got blacklisted in one state because he bucked the trend in the local PD, refusing to do things that he felt were contrary to Constitutional law and the ethical concepts behind being a peace officer. He ended up going to another state and a department that held similar views on peace officer over law enforcement officer and he has had a great, 10 year career and has been recognized several times for his ability to de-escalate situations and avoid use-of-force scenarios. Departments vary a lot from state to state. So it depends on what the officer was decertified for. If it was an ethical issue, then he should certainly be blacklisted. Use of force is a bit more convoluted. Different states have different thresholds, policies and internal affairs procedures for use of force. Therefore, what can cause decertification in one state, might be closer to acceptable or even acceptable in another state. Egregious is always egregious, but not all decerts for use of force are egregious or obvious.

The "security" company I work for here in Texas has the same "security" rules but are a staff of 20 officers and growing. Its a massive gated community with privately funded roads. We have all the authority local law enforcement within out 7000 plus community. The only thing WE don't do is transport to the county jail. We have to call in for that. But the pay is decent and the insurance is exceptional!
