I've been honored to host Bob's classes at my place in north Florida since about 2016. Some years we have had him come twice. We just had Bob at the start of the month and a class scheduled for this coming October sold out within 24 hours... That says something. We've been fortunate to have Bob stay with on site for after class meals and socials. Great personality, great conversations, and quite motivational. I highly recommend seeking out one of Bob's classes.

The Blackhawk Down book has some rousing descriptions of Delta getting into fights with each other while trying to plan missions. I get the impression that SEALS and DELTA compliment each other. They also provide friendly competition that enhances their training.

@@arighteousname5882 In the Black Hawk Down book by Mark Bowden, he explains that Ranger Captain Steele was bewildered when he would try to attend mission planning meetings with the D-Boys. Normally, when Rangers planned missions, Steele would show up, listen, and take notes. In the Delta mission planning meetings, he would hear things like "So this is how we're going to assault this building" and another D-Boy would say "What? That's the fucking dumbest shit I've ever seen! What the fuck?" to which the first D-Boy would retort, "Hey go fuck yourself! You think you can do better, asshole?". Steele was basically a fish out of water in these meetings, which contributed to his opinion that Delta were a bunch of wild cowboys who "didn't do things by the book" like Rangers did. If you read the book, there is an interesting dynamic at play between the Rangers and D-Boys that some of the guys loved, and others just didn't fully understand. Delta plans their own missions and does things their way, and the Rangers do things the US Army Ranger classical big-Army way, generally. These two philosophies generally don't mix, which is also explained a little bit in the book. It's great source material.

No doubt about it. To many fanboys want to argue who's better between delta and devgroup not navy seal's. I don't think people realize that devgroup are seal's who pass a much harder selection to makeit to devgroup. They both are mainly hostage rescue or kill capture missions. Basically it comes down to who gets the call period the end and they often work together So i just don't understand the major argument of who's better.

"Dreaming" of being a soldier or wanting to be the hero and #1 badass isn't fucked up. That's what young boys should be fantasizing about and wanting to emulate. Me and all my friends played "war", built and protected forts, ran "raids" and takeovers of other kids forts and they would defend them. We'd wrestle, throw oranges and dirt clods at each other, use toy guns or sticks as rifles.....I grew up in SW Florida in the early-mid 80's

I definitely want to train with this guy in the future. Keller also makes me think and understand that alot of the other legit operators who we all see preach cadence drills (like Ronin for example) DO NOT have the experience that Keller has - and they have not been in a fraction of the firefights he has either! DELTA I feel are the absolute best of the Tier 1 SOF organizations out there. The common sense no frills approach is always the best approach to all things combat related. Keller would be my #1 top pick to train with! Hands down!!

Wouldn't say I was super enthused by getting into my first legitimate gunfight, but growing up in Philly, there was plenty of gun violence to be had, and more than once was I directly involved. When the time came to put rounds down range in Afghanistan, I felt completely collected, it wasn't my first time having things pop and burst around me as rounds started making contact with my environment. Maybe some saw me as an uncaring psycho, when honestly I think I was just desensitized to it at that point. I knew what I was doing, I knew what I was about, I just needed to be sure everyone else was aware of me, and I'm aware of them.

Your comment resonated with me deeply. Are you from north or south Philly? I could be wrong but I'm assuming you grew up Catholic like me? I was an altar boy up until I left to go to Benning. The thought of killing at that time was different than the reality of actually doing it. The first time I actually put shots downrange I understood and it became clear why we take an oath at least for me anyway,it gave me the ability to mentally deal with taking a life vs breaking one the 10 commandments. Anyway I love ya brotha.

Real question- are people laughing, joking, and cutting it up when a teammate has a chunk of his face shot off, get shot in the balls, has a mangled bloody mess where there was a lower leg? What about when there completely mamed/disfigured? When someone will need to be spoon fed mush by their mother, have the drool wiped of their chin, and their diaper changed by mom because the wife left because severe traumatic brain injury wasn't included in the "sickness and health" part of her vows? Do you laugh it up when your in the field with those casualties? Or when you go spend time with them after? Do you guys go see your brother's that get fucked up? Is it a bummer to see? These a real questions.

PTSD affects people differently. Some get a near miss car accident and are severely debilitated. Others, like this guy, probably sleep great at night. You heard him. They’re just targets to him. These are the two extremes. Everyone else is somewhere in the middle where your assertion applies.

As much as I love, listening to this guy regale us with his illustrious career, it's hard to believe that there isn't at least one face or situation that haunts him. He had to have seen more than just targets that he engaged successfully... War is hell and there's always unexpected collateral damage. Even if they didn't cause it, they had to have witnessed it. That's got to mess with you regardless of how badass you might be or how gung-ho you are for the fight. Everyone has a soul.

Yeah, you miss your brothers, but the truth is " what did he do or not do that got him dead, I do not want to repeat it" is also there.
