If the guy was out on bail, and bail jumping is not a crime in Japan, then him leaving the country is the only issue. Japan had a hold on his passport and they're pissed he got out. If the fact that a family member is not guilty of a crime if they help another family member, then they have no legal recourse since the Green Beret's wife is a relative. Regardless, knowing that Japan tortures to get information, I would think a Green Beret might have knowledge that the Japanese government could use against us. Our country, the land of the free and the poster for rights and freedoms, cannot send someone who has helped government agencies recover abducted citizens get home, to be tortured. We should protect our own. If he has committed a crime, deal with him here. If all he has done is make Japan look incompetent, let him go home.

@@Mercmad You don't know what the f... you are talking about. I was in Afghanistan for quite a while ( not as NGO or humanitarian hogwash, but as PMC ). The US administration through the DOD and the CIA gave rewards for"captured terrorists or unlawful combatants". It became an industry, the quickest way for anyone to make a couple of grands by denouncing or accusing anyone else. The US administration admitted afterwards, that more than 70% of the cases were driven by money, and not being related to serious activities linked to terrorism or insurgency. This was particularly the case with war lord Abdul Rashid Dostum and the Uzbeks. They delivered taxi drivers, construction workers, farmers, anyone they could make money from. They went as far as making accusation against a NI officer, claiming he was providing information to the ISI in exchange for money. It came out the officer was having a secret affair with a local woman, and the Uzbeks took it an unforgivable insult.

His son should certainly have not been taken by our enforcement. Family members of those tortured then are used against the accused as leverage. When Michael Flynn was pressured, he mortgaged his home to hire attorneys and fight. The FBI threatened to bring charges against his son, he changed to cooperate to spare his son. They are allowed to lie, so that is not to say that his son in any way did anything illegal. It has happened through time.

I am an Iranian resident in Japan for 27 years. I suffered severe injuries in a car accident, resulting in a permanent disability in my left leg. The incident occurred when I fell into an unseen deep pothole at a parking lot entrance, breaking my back. Sadly, the parking company, which is affiliated with the largest construction company in Japan and also operates in the US, has been prolonging the inhumane court proceedings for the past 5 years. It is difficult to believe. I have to take 13 strong painkillers daily due to the constant pain. In the first court, three judges rejected the opinions of three doctors and the medical tests. In the second court, four judges also dismissed them and described the difference in temperature of my left foot (a maximum of 7 degrees Fahrenheit) as insignificant. The inhumane ruling has destroyed my life and my family's. Please help me bring this construction company to trial in the United States. All foreigners should know that in order to live in Japan, they must study more. This is my personal opinion.

So why is this one guy and his son all of a sudden a controversy? Something stinks here, japan has been allies of the US for decades so why now all of a sudden this? Boston 10 news: The warrant was for the arrest of Harvard, Massachusetts, resident Michael Taylor, his son Peter Taylor and his housemate George Antoine Zayek in connection with the escape. The New York Times reported that Peter Taylor was heavily involved in the escape plot and met with Ghosn at least seven times prior to the Dec. 29 escape. “I went to school with Peter, so I’ve kind of known what his dad and his company have done, and this seems kind of standard for their company,” said Grant MacLean, who knows the Taylors. Michael Taylor was investigated in 2011 for allegedly paying kickbacks to acquire Department of Defense contracts worth $54 million, according to the District of Utah State Attorney’s Office. In 2013, he pleaded guilty to honest services wire fraud and was sentenced to 24 months in prison in 2015, according to the Department of Justice.
