What a classy and great guy Rich Fields is. I remember hearing him announce Bob's last show. Rich's opening was fantastic. It really matched the excitement of the day. Great Job Rich.

Rich should have taken Bob’s place on the show. Rich had tpir in his blood. No one loved tpir more than Rich. It showed on all the episodes. Must have been politics.

@@shaneomacdaddy Interesting enough, Rich only missed one show throughout his entire time on the show due to illness, and it was Burton who filled in for him on that episode

Well if you don't know, at one taping, he was sitting in the audience (relatively young, I might say), he got to meet Johnny. And so did Rod.

I was really hoping he would make it to 100, so that TPIR could hold another epic birthday celebration for him in person - the only difference from his 90th was that he would be wheelchair bound (according to my prediction). Oh well, I guess no one lives forever, no matter how immortal they might seem to be - RIP Bob Barker (1923-2023). Thanks for making my childhood the best one ever!

He was not going to appear even if still living-- he decided to stop making public appearances following his appearance on the 2015 April Fools episode

I could understand Rich's emotions as he gave tribute to Bob Barker. I'll never forget the closing of Bob's last show as host of The Price Is Right and the hug Rich Fields and Bob Barker shared. It's obvious they were dear friends. Farewell, Mr. Barker; you brought a great deal of joy to all of us.

I applaud Rich's ability to keep it together, you can tell how much he loved the man as a co-worker, friend and he probably saw Bob as a father figure too. R I P Bob your legacy will NEVER leave.

@@cricketcustomer2164 No. Mike Richards, the executive producer at the time (yes, the same Mike Richards who tried becoming Jeopardy host) wanted to take TPiR in a new direction, which included an announcer with more experience in improv.

@@cameraredeye3115 No, Adam Sandler took over as Director. (For anybody else reading, this is not the same Adam Sandler as the one who got his a** whooped by Bob Barker.) Evelyn Warfel took over as exec of TPiR when Richards left for Sony. ... And when Richards was FIRED from his exec role at Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, Michael Davis immediately took over Jeopardy, and Bellamie Blackstone took over WoF one year later.

I've always found it interesting how Rich talks about how close he was with Bob, and yet in this interview and others he only ever refers to him as "Mr. Barker".

Rich had a podcast and there too he would say "Mr. Barker". One can have a close relationship with somebody without refering to them by a first name. Rich does that out of respect and out of reverence to Mr. Barker.

Low stress life - Bob does the show - taped in the can by Noon - hit the bistro for lunch - back to the compound. Lather, rinse repeat. House help - helps.

Rich is now a motivational speaker. He moved to Tampa. Rejoined TV in November 2021. Made a remark about a colleague having a felony in November 2022. Quit TV the beginning of this year and became a motivational speaker.

Believe it or not guys, Bob going up to heaven,wasn’t a surprise, I kind of knew he was gonna go up to heaven at 99 in a half, it wasn’t a surprise to me, and not reach a 100 no matter what, I mean the odds weren’t good at all of him reaching 100, he’s still frail as of right now up in heaven, been very frail since 2016, I mean of course it’s sad, but not heartbreakingly sad.

Yes, RIch was the 3rd permanent announcer after Rod Roddy. He was the show's announcer from the tail end of season 32 until the end of season 38.
