THE ZOMBIES OF RUAKA Yesterday, I had an interesting road trip from Kisumu to Nairobi. Along the way, I encountered peaceful protesters in Kisumu, Ahero, Kericho, and even in Nakuru. It was quite fascinating to see their dedication as they wiped my car to show solidarity. I decided to support them by giving them water. I chose to take Limuru road, and surprisingly, business was booming in Ruaka as usual. However, I couldn't help but notice that the majority of the youth seemed disconnected from reality. It felt like their spirits had left the country long ago, and all that remained were their bodies. I couldn't help but think about Gachagua and his fight against illicit brew.

Your brother Walter Rodney in How Europe Underdeveloped Africa show why we must develop an economic system not borrowed from our colonizers. The protest are a symptom of the larger problem of not developing an an economic/political based on our African experience. We were warned in Kwame Nkrumah's "Neo-Colonialism The Last Stage of Imperialism, the President of Kenya and others on the continent are serving in this capacity. The IMF told the president to "ignore" the protest. Whatever the contradictions are in China, the only way they were able to achieve that they have achieved in just forty years is that they developed and economic/political system based on their national identity. They have never surrendered their cultural identity to those who have invaded them.
