As a guitarist, when I go to concerts, I usually watch the guitar players, but when I saw the Scorps, James was so entertaining, couldn't stop watching him. He was a great entertainer.

I... fucking... LOVE the first Kingdom Come record!! And for 2 reasons - excellent songs, and James's KILLER drum tracks! I saw them for that Monster's of Rock tour back in the late 80s at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia and they blew EVERYbody off'a the stage that day. RIP, Jimmy K.

Lovely interview, thanks for posting this. The industry suffered a huge loss when James passed on. Great drummer and great performer to boot. I saw him perform the first time during the Eye To Eye tour and was just blown away! #ripjameskottack🥁

I had a chance to meet James at Ron Wood's club Woody's in Miami Beach in the late 80s . Our band was playing and I let him sit in and play my drums. He ended up comping me tickets to the monsters of rock show that weekend. He was a real nice guy. RIP brother.

I also have been into watching Ex-wife's of Rock. I always get a laugh from Athena. Got to witness James and her marriage struggles and their own individual personal struggles. I was the youngest of three children who's parents divorced. I was too young in the court system to make the decision of which parent I wanted to live with. I could see Athena's frustration for understandable reasons and I could at times see the pain on James' face (when he was sober). Yesterday, I thought to myself, "Why is James Kottak coming to my mind?". I went and looked up Athena online and of course it has family members and ex-spouse, etc. I clicked on James Kottak. I saw James birthday and then I saw Date of Death. I'm like, "Is someone playing a sickening joke? What is today's date? I look and see that it was the same date of his death.". I feel for the kids, Athena, other family members, and friends. I realize that Athena and James were divorced and had a rocky marriage but James is still her children's father.
