It pains me to see how underrated Monsta X is compared to how amazing their music is.

Jooheon really is something special and sometimes i feel like the charisma he puts into his rap and his performing go into his production and writing because his music just has THAT vibe. Jooheon also has a feeling of where and how to use the members in songs.

If Starship has any sense at all, they will let Jooheon do EVERY title track and let them all produce entire albums from now on.

I can't help but think about how Shownu would have fit into this song and album. I'm really going through it.

As far as I know, they mentioned that for gambler, it was picked among a list of other potential title tracks which had been written by other producers simply because they felt it was the best option out of the rest. As for Rush Hour, the members were aware Jooheon was writing a potential title track but nothing was set until the higher ups announced rush hour as the title of the new comeback. But Kihyun also mentioned that while the company did ultimately decide on Jooheon’s song, there were other potential candidates (by other producers) for the title, which he specifically requested to listen to in order to ensure the best quality and most suitable song for their comeback, even if it wasn’t written by Jooheon. After listening to all of them Kihyun agreed that Rush Hour was the best and most suitable as the title. So I don’t think they’ve completely set Jooheon as their permanent title producer for future mx comebacks. But Jooheon’s music perfectly represents MX’s musical identity and his energy which is reflected in his songs is unmatched so I think it’s only right that they found his tracks to be most suitable. Personally hoping that he continues producing the title tracks hehe. Hope this helps!

mx holds a special place in my heart in that all the years i've listened to kpop, they are the one group i've consistently felt the same about - i'm always super super excited when i hear they're having a comeback and i prepare my wallet lol

With the color grading being different, it felt like to me they were intentionally going from cold colors to warm in the second round to feel things “heating up” and then the last one they went for a big lighting change to add more energy/movement. But that’s just how I processed it I’m not any kind of expert here. This is a great comeback and is performing really well for them! I hope they continue to write their titles and Hyungwon and I.M get their shot since they also compose. MX is overflowing with talent.

A foreign music producer that’s worked the big 3 and Monsta X said that MX heavily participated in their music. You most likely enjoyed their b-sides more because the boys participated in it. Gambler as you’ve said is their 1st title track . Starship finally woke up and realized what a treasure they have in Joohoney, IM and Hyungwon. One of A Kind did amazing, probably the reason Starship let the boys produce No Limit album. Because the boys produced it the entire album is amazing! I love all of MX songs but this album has a place in my Monbebe heart. I’m excited for Monsta X growth in their artistry

thought this was incredible best comeback yet for me. joohoney just a genius. IMs style of rapping is just brilliant. monsta x you can never be disappointed. I loved them standing on the bullseye and the arrows missing them. just shows no matter what hate you throw at them monsta x will come back stronger and harder.

The reason why Monsta X sound is so consistent is because the had the same album director for many many years and at the same time, they started to get more and more involved in the choose of tittle tracks as the time passed by, to the point where the choose of tittle tracks dependa more on Monsta X than the company, ig bc the main heads realized these really understand their sound, have tons of artistry and know what their fans like; so yeah :)

Monsta x really stand out to me musically, I normally dislike their type of music but they have something special to their sound that has me hooked. Alligator and it's b-sides will forever be my favorite but this one is coming close to it in how much I love it. Also PD, just wanted to let you know that Bang Yongguk had a comeback today!

I could really feel pride as a mbb when I first heard rush hour.! It feels like the DNA of monsta x's 6 yrs was put into rush hour.. something like only mx can do

in honesty, rush hour is the best tittle track they had so far for me personally. idk how to explain but there is some reason that you can't get enough of this song that makes you keep going to listen to it. probably because it doesnt really have clear repetition aside from chorus but overall song is very addictive that you will need to listen more than once. also, changkyun's rap verse is crazy good in this song. i keep replaying solely to hear his part so many times.

So yes you were right, Jooheon and I.M both wrote every rap they’ve done in their title tracks for pretty much their whole career. I really love the idea though of Jooheon taking over the title tracks because like you said he really is such a unique composer and I feel like so far Gambler and Rush Hour really set the tone for their respective albums, whereas I feel like some of their other tracks didn’t as much? Hopefully with Hyungwon doing bsides now and I.M having done it for the last three years, they might do a title track too? It makes me wonder what kind of vibe that will be. But I think Jooheon represents so wholeheartedly the Monsta X brand in its entirety that it’s such a perfect fit Side Note: that “eat this” move Jooheon does toward the end is a nod to a viral video of Shownu doing that exact move to mimick eating a kebab lmao. so he’s still here in the track in spirit 🥰

I LOVE this song. It is my favorite Monsta X song. From I.M's opening "Eat this!", the relentless driving aggressiveness of the rapping, vocals and background music (especially at the beginning) is incredibly addictive. I've read that Monsta X was losing popularity in S. Korea, and with the permanent loss of Wonho and the military enlistment of their leader Shownu, I wonder if this made them feel vulnerable; and like a cornered beast, they opted to come out with hyper-aggressiveness to dispel any fears that they were on the wane. It seems like they channeled their inner Dylan Thomas and decided not to go gently into that good night and instead choose to rage, rage against the dying of the light! Kudos to Monsta X!

I have been waiting for your reaction! I can’t wait to watch this. Edit: Okay done watching and you nailed it on the head. This is a great homage to the “noisy” sound of their earlier releases but now coupled with the maturity and self-assurance of their recent work. Joohoney actually said it himself, he wanted to go back to the feel of their earlier days but also wanted to showcase the Monsta X identity. I think he did a great job with Rush Hour. And yes, I can also recognize the Rodeo vibe in this as well as Fallin, Be Quiet, Beastmode, Zone, and Stand Together. You should also check out their performance video of Ride with U, one of the b sides off this album. I think you will like it too.

Although I am not a big fan of Starship .. for a whole host of reasons, I do really respect and appreciate, the way they have managed to create such a recognisable core sound for MX, and how they have stuck to it. Even when they were hit with, it is too agrressive, too loud, too sexy, too this and that. They have stuck with it, even when working with a whole host of different producers and songwriters. It is probably the one place I cannot fault the company. They really know how to pick and make good music. Now I am sure Jooheon, Changkyun, Hyungwon and Wonho have all made and presented plenty of amazing title track worthy songs in their time, and I know most monbebe would always prefer music created by the members themselves. But I highly respect that they have chosen to not sacrifice the recognisability of their sound, to appease the members and fans The fact that they have managed to release songs for 7 years that always, somehow, sound new and fresh but at the same time unmistakenly like Monsta X, is impressive. Also I think they graded those scenes differently, because of the change in styling, so that there is a clear difference in vibe between the too styling looks, despite the the set being reused.

Gambler and Rush Hour are so different for me. Gambler gave the sexy and mysterious in a chiller way. Rush Hour brought the HYPE the OOMF if you will. Both have similarities in structure but I think Rush hour really brought the action that we all love from monsta x

Funny enough that PD talks about "modern cowboy". The whistling immediately reminded me of Ennio Morricone and the "Once upon the time in the west" soundtrack. (Correcting myself: I think I mostly meant "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". Also the whistling kind of contrasts nicely with the drums in the later parts of the song.

having been a mbb since 2016 i gotta say this is one of their bests. this is literally monsta x going back to their roots, going for that strong strong sound, Trespass 2.0. I think Jooheon making this song is what made it perfect because he KNOWS their sound and what makes monsta x, monsta x. also YES their b-sides are SO good. literally such a variety of styles, from ballads to heavy edm, they KILL IT.

27:41 AMEN! I have been their fan for four years now and seeing how their true colours are just SHINING brighter in every comeback, really mesmerised me. One thing I really noticed about Rush Hour is that... there is... no vocal rest (?) I mean apart from the whistle (made by Jooheon) and the outro with the "uhh or woo" there is literally no rest... this song is indeed tiring and something I really HAVE NOT HEARD before... not the basic kpop song abut vocal-rap-vocal.... but maybe I am biased! The performances are just insane to handle with this fact. 6 years and counting. Monsta X is personally the only reason why I came back to kpop. I like to called them KNoise because when it comes to noise, wild/dark concepts, innovation and... yes, sexiness Monsta X is one of the groups you will see. About the lighting from grey to a brighter colour I think it is because of the lyrics and thee mentioning of no competition I really connected with their previous and new lyrics. Go and check the sides tracks because HOLYYYYYYY (+ yes it sounds like a Rodeo's sister)

I agree with you that Monsta X is very consistent with their title tracks yet somehow give us diversity in their whole discography, that's what i like about them really. I personally think Rush Hour is their best title track too and it's awesome because i said the same thing when Gambler was released. But really, i think the fact that the members produced this album with passion and put their creativity into it is what makes this album so good.

I have been supporting Monsta x for three years and Im literally in love with their music. I adore every single song they release, its unbelievable. Their sound is just incredible and i cannot agree with you more about their bsides. Also it really seems like a new era with joo producing the titletracks also hyungwon and changkyun joining the composing team. They still have the unreachable monsta x energy but with a new aura it seems. Honey's and changkyun's flows suprised me so much in Rush Hour, as a daily listener of their music the different type of flow they used stood out to me and I loved it once more. I cannot wait to see them evovle their sound even more, im so excited

This is why i gravitate to Monsta X. Music-wise, there's been growth. They kept evloving but the most interesting detail is regardless of changes and trying new genre or style, they remain with their true MX colors, their roots. They are AMAZING! Still one of the best discographies out there!!! GP takes them for granted. Sheesh. But looking forward to many many more content from this phenomenal group!

Yeah I really get what you mean that their bsides are often even better than their title tracks, thats the case for me as well, especially underwater and burn it up are some of my favourites. That said I really really hope you check out Sf9s new album as well because its the same for them in my opinion. "Dreams" is an incredible song on their new album that i already know your gonna love, they really show a different side of them in their bsides that you cant fully understand Sf9s quality as musicians if you only listen to the title tracks. A lot of bsides even topped my favourite titel track "easy love", especially "see u tomorrow" in the RPM album, you are totally gonna lose your mind listening to this PD! I really really hope you give them a shot

I think the consistency of monstax music is because they are getting involved on the production since the beginning of their career. Even in their predebut as a group. I remember several weeks ago a producer(?)(I'm sorry i don't know the details) said in her video interview that monstax members back and forth to revise their lyrics or re-record until they get satisfied with the result. And it also why monstax songs are "rich". What i mean "rich" in here is their rapper's rapping style is vary, their vocal adlibs are also vary. They know who's suitable for the every parts of the song and no-skipped songs are born.

yeah SEVENTEEN and MONSTA X did debut in the same year ! Also the same year as TWICE CLC DAY6 OHMYGIRL and N.FLYING ! I’m throughly convinced there was something in the water 2015 cuz all the coolest groups debuted that year ! SEVENTEEN and MONSTA X are also known to be friends bc they debuted the same year !

Jooheon did say that this title track has the trespass vibe to it. On the same set with the color grading being different, I felt like it was the contrast between their debut and their present day. Debuts are usually colorful and loud, and as the groups continue on the journey of becoming a senior group, their sound and style get more mature and laid back. The lyrics feel like they are talking about how they keep going forward in the competitive world. The boomerangs, the lyrics, the contrasting of things in this song both visually and technicality-wise - ... I can't help but feel that all the contrasting is on purpose. Like contrasting of the music with the rap in the beginning, or the contrasting scenes, or the contrasting of the visual that is if less budget and of high budget, even the contrasting of the set with colorful clothes and then more mature colors make it different yet the same .... I saw it as it's Monsta X who is the same yet different - same sound, but more mature and confident.

Different, innovative, unique, top notch 👌 No words could've decribed Monsta x better! These boys chose a different sound, not the regular gp-friendly and kept it improving throughout the years without losing that original feel. That is why we came to a point where reactors started to say ' this is the Monsta x sound' !

Monsta X is one of my favorite bands. I love their vibe, their voices are really recognisable yet very blendable. Totally my type of music on the instrumental side, catchy melodies... + let's say that the outfits on this comeback are ABSOLUTE PERFECTION

my theory is that the colors in the mv change like the settings as the song progresses and builds up. and as for the different outfits, they do love the cowboy concept but i think theyre trying to show that they can pull off ANY concept and , just like the different rapping styles, they can mix it up and still make it for the mx style. i have to admit that when the photo teasers came out i was confused about the concept but it’s NO LIMIT. there’s no limit to what mx can do, because anything they do they’ll do it better. they’ve been unrecognized trendsetters in the industry for so long. it’s really nice to see people finally catching on, specially the general public. no album of theirs has sold as many copies in the first week as No Limit has. it’s sad that shownu wasn’t part of it but they’ve paid homage to him with the lamb skewers dance move when joo says “eat this”

This is Monsta X’s BEST song yet in my opinion! In my opinion their Best English song is One Day! My two biases are I.M Changkyun and Kihyun! I just got into them in September and I’m obsessed with them!

They release a 선공개 stage of Rush Hour on the premier show, and after the first watch/listen to it, I was glad that another MONSTA X-ish song came out, but at the same time feeling a lil bit discordant cuz the main melody and the beat sound like two different song. Amazing review as always! Monsta X are getting more and more freedom by their company, maybe 'cause their contract is ending soon and SSE wants them to renovate it. Before the comeback they get to listen to the possible title tracks and choose the best, Jooheon's won both times! I think this album is one of the best ever made by them honestly and I highly suggest you listen to Mercy. It's composed by Hyungwon as a second part to Nobody Else (one of their best b-sides imo) What makes Monsta X one of the most talented groups out there is how versatile but true to themselves they are 🖤
