Everything went wrong at Formula 1 Las Vegas
It's here! F1, or the Formula 1 Grand Prix Las Vegas Race is happening November 16-18, 2023 and man has the city gone thru so many preparations for it. And is was a disaster. The practice only lasted 7 minutes before a manhole disrupted the race, harming the Ferrari car, and stopping the whole thing.We've had so much construction, repaving, adding grandstands, taking down trees, blocking the Bellagio Fountains, and so much more. The city of Las Vegas has literally spent billions all in hope to bring in much more. Hopefully Friday and Saturday turn out better. Hope you enjoy!

LMAO and thats on the cheap, most experiences to watch the race were going for thousands of dollars. Just so you have to watch on your phone the rest of the race for the broadcast 🤣 other than the 1% that have their suites were they network with each other, i dont get why people paid so much to see this event, even live you get to see just a tiny part of the race, missing most of it!

THE fans are very angry & demanding refunds. They spent $200 and got kicked-out from FP2. Saw basically nothing. I would dispute the charge on my credit card. Under US law it’s illegal for a business to sell a service (the practice) and then not provide the service.

Such a fun experience! Darn pothole changed plans of watching a car race to eating, drinking, people watching, meeting people, exploring, and hanging out with friends. Sounds like a really good night, even without the race. I really loved this video because it felt like I was there seeing all the chaos and excitement along with you. Maybe there couldv'e been rat races while you waited. Great job Norma!! 🌠

If she weren’t being compensated do you think she’d do all that “for us” ? Of course not, who would? It’s all for the $$$ And the fact is, this video will be very profitable for her long term as she will probably gain lots of new subscribers who specifically searched “Las Vegas formula 1” and found her. We planned our Honeymoon about 2 years ago for October 2023 (well before they announced F1). Still had a great time, but it wasnt quite the same Vegas. Absolutely LOVE Vegas but we will plan our future trips in a different part of the year to avoid this mess.

Glad you were still smiling! The street circuit seems like a bad idea because they have completely blocked off any view of Vegas, so really it could be anywhere. Maybe an actual dedicated track might have been a better option. Hopefully a race happens.

At first, I felt bad but thinking about all the people there and how bad traffic must be, I think we made the right decision not to attend. But thank you for bringing us great coverage of the event. I live in the Mojave desert in California and I was in Vegas during October and many of the locals were talking about how formula 1 sucks because all the drama of how they are trying to squeeze money out of Vegas and the horrible construction. I was trying to stay positive though I wasn’t coming back for the race because the prices were too high but I like Vegas and I wanted it to be positive thing financially for Vegas. Loved the video because you show the disaster that it turned out to be and still entertaining. I hope Formula 1 packs up there crap and never comes back. There will be a lot of finger pointing saying it isn’t there fault but for the drama they pulled the needed to execute the race perfectly. I know that the main race can still be pulled off but me giving them a shot has passed. You rock Norma❤

This event looks like it literally blocked off all Vegas for tourists. I'm from Denver and all the mess has made it to our local news stations and honestly, thank God we went to Vegas no where near an event like this. I'm sure this is upsetting for many ppl who couldn't explore Vegas as usual.

As a former Formula 1 fan, I think Vegas has been duped by them. The days when it was an exciting spectacle are long gone. You might as well stand on a bridge over a freeway and watch the traffic go by and not be charged the astronomical fees for tickets.

You know that F1 and Las Vegas would like a return on investment right? This one race week a year is estimated to bring over $3 billion a year to Vegas. This is awesome. And everything across the board is up 30%+. Voting has consequences.

This is the first year. It'll be streamlined and take less time to set up year after year. I can't believe how much crying is going on over this. Vegas will have NASCAR, F1, NHL, NFL, MLB and soon NBA. I'd feel honored that these organizations are moving to my city. But I guess Clark County is full of socialists now who hate Capitalism. I'm an outside observer who has watched F1 lose its lustre over the years to the point I'm so disinterested in it, I couldn't name five current drivers. I'm praising Vegas by saying F1 is not worthy of it.

At the end of the day, I honestly don't see this event being that great for Vegas in regards to exposure, money, etc. Having big sports events here, concerts and even conventions are what brings in the people and the funds. F1 seems like way to much disruption, cost out of pocket and just not that interesting to that many people to make it worth the effort. I hope I'm proven wrong, but the fact that prices have been dropping on tickets, rooms, etc., tells me it ain't all that, and whatever projections have been made are probably way off from reality.

@@ocolndrs44 Kinda. The idiots in charge here only paved the racetrack side of the street, so southbound Las Vegas Blvd is great, and northbound is its unimproved bumpy normal self. All the way around, I've heard that only one side was paved.

Do they have Fomula races on the Las Vegas Speedway? I know that for Formula E, which is Formula 1 with electric cars, it is done at the speedway in Portland, Oregon, instead of on the streets of Portland. I'm surprised so many cities allow formula 1 on the streets because it seems like a big inconvenience. 😲

Watching Lydia’s live stream last night I could definitely say F1 practice was pretty much a disaster. What made it worth it though was when you guys reunited. Hopefully they can get the track fixed for the actual race. Besides, the actual track itself looks like everybody had a fun time which is the most important thing.

Great video Norma! I hope the drinks helped you ladies! The first Formula 1® in Las Vegas was before our time (1981-1982). It was called: "The Caesars Palace Grand Prix®". Liberty Media®, and John Malone the "C.E.O." who owns Liberty Media and one of it's subsidies "Formula 1®" probably thought it would be smart to have the F1® event there in Las Vegas for the next ten (10) years, or saw the amount of capital it could bring in, and help Liberty Media 's® Formula® 1 stock price. Residents I know are pissed! Hopefully it will get better over the years. The big question is the contract going to be renewed?

Hi Norma, Thank you for doing this F1 video. I was watching the practice race on ESPN when the practice was postponed to a later time due to a track issue. I am so sorry that this happened to you. Especially because you had to pay out of your pocket for this event. Great video wished there was more racing, but the food looked good, and it was nice seeing Lydia. I did want to go to F1 this first time, but the prices were too expensive. The prices did go down, but I like to plan my trips to Vegas with a little more time. Hopefully, I can attend next year's F1 race. Watch out for those rats in the bushes.

It happened on previously tracks. The F1 should be able to avoid it happening in Vegas by inspecting all the covers. ALSO the fans are very angry & demanding refunds. They have a perfectly good speedway in vegas that could have been expanded to accommodate the race. They could have used all the money they have spent on destroying the strip to change the track to their liking. Also, it wouldn’t have inconvenience the locals as much.

Norma : For safety reasons once the drain cover was hit...F1 needed to inspect all the drain covers on the entire track. That takes some time. And they had to repair the one that was damaged. That takes time. Not uncommon. These things have happened at other tracks over the years. Especially on a new street track like Las Vegas. The F1 cars have aerodynamics that puts a lot of "suction" to keep them planted on the track. That can cause things like the drain cover to come loose. Hope Saturday goes well without incident.

I saw an video clip on worker repairing the broke manhole cover surrounding concrete. It was terrible. They were doing it some voodoo way. They applied epoxy concrete and used blow torch to heat it quickly. I do not know epoxy concrete can be quick cured this way. The organizer get lucky that FP2 did not create another diaster.

Hey Norma - I was at the Sphere section 104 near your “second” seats and waited til 12:30am and called it quits. You are the better person for persevering and giving your audience a glimpse of the F1 circus. I didn’t like the chicken and waffles either…yuck! As a local of Las Vegas for over 12 years now and a rideshare for close to 10 years now, this was one of the worst possible ideas ever introduced to this city and has caused locals and businesses to lose a lot of money!!!! Very disappointed!!! :(-

At least you guys made the best of a unfortunate situation. That is the best part of having friends at races. Plus when you go to more races you can recollect all of the memories for years. Ive been to many races & these things happen, BUT all the hype, buildup, negative press, etc prior to this & now the treatment of no refunds you saw 10minutes of practice & leave is a different experience. Indycar racing would welcome you back the next day for free to watch qualifying & what not.

Unfortunate, but problems with new tracks are common, so they should have closed the track and ran some test laps weeks ago. They may be able to repair and secure the drain covers, but we don't know what the NEXT potential problem will be. The straight down Las Vegas Blvd is too long. The cars reach too high a speed AND the brakes cool off too much. Also the low temps are making it difficult to warm the tires. Last night they didn't even get up to speed. Drivers described it as feeling like driving in the wet on slick tires. They should have installed a chicane halfway down the strip to reduce the speed and help tires and brakes stay warm. We'll see what they do today.

I’ve never really got into professional racing. However the 1st practice run looked awesome. Saw the 2nd on ESPN. Norma you and Lydia looked awesome and looks like y’all had so much fun. Stay safe have more fun.

I would have been so pissed off paying $250 for a cancelled practice. I wouldn't be smiling like you were. And the fact you were prepared to wait until 230AM to take more video for us was so professional of you, Norma. They should have gave Lydia a free cocktail for cancelling. F1 is not worth it and I hope it never returns to Vegas.

They closed the LV strip and blocked it off for this, do you really think they’d sell tickets for $4 with all the business the strip is losing from closing? They had multiple musical artists perform, fireworks, light shows, djs, free food.. all kinds of stuff. The race was at night which made it a visual spectacle with the city lights in the background. And those drink prices are standard for the strip. You can weep all you want but the U.S. has the largest economy in the world. It’s not our fault that no one wants to pay more than 4 bucks to attend an event in your location. F1 races all over Europe and you’re trying to tell me all of Europe only charges 4 bucks gtfo. It must just be the crappy area you live in.

I knew these $4 ticket prices you were boasting about were bogus, so I looked up all the ticket prices for upcoming races in European locations. Yeah.. there’s no tickets for $4 lmao. Parking alone starts at $40 and goes up from there. The Netherlands is $338.43 USD for sat/sun making each day cost $169.22- for general admission. General admission in Hungary for Fri/sat/sun is $174.67, making each day $58.22. Better price, but a far cry from the $4 that you claim, and quite a range from the claim you made that all of Europe only charges 4 bucks 🙄🙄 Hungary is a poor country and has the cheapest general admission ticket you can get in F1. Hungary’s most expensive tickets are $2,183.42. Looks like you should weep for Europeans as well 😭😭 You wanna talk about stupidity, well it’s pretty stupid to lie about ticket prices when they can be looked up. And to lie to the degree of where even just the cheapest ticket you can purchase in Europe is 15 times more than you lied about.. yup, pure stupidity. These types of things can happen but especially with a street circuit. For the first year I think they need to be cut some slack. Yes it sucks but as long as qualifying and the race come off well, then that is the main thing. The big issue I feel is the price for everything was so expensive that everyone is going to expect perfection. For the locals I am hoping that next years will be much smoother as the infrastrure mostly already be in place.
