@Inacio Artur oof bad call here, hoss. yes, while forrest's car might not have the insane speed(i mean it probably would if it weren't set up for maximum angle), his car itself isn't "slow". the chase driver needs to be able to adapt and mimic, and james didn't do it well enough, even compared to forrest in the chase postition. there is no horsepower "minimum" that these guys need to have, look at travis reeder and his ~600bhp car. yet dudes aren't checking up and chasing him all shitty. with chris and aasbo out, FD NEEDED a big name, non-independent driver to win the championship(for reasons that I can't explain, sorry) and plus it gave them the added cherry to say he was the first 3-peat champ. the last independent champion was in 2013 with Essa. Clearly the big name sponsors run the show for FD, not totally surprised with that, and as evidenced after the season was over, judging changes were made either due to fan backlash or said judge not wanting to be apart of the show. Too bad this upcoming season is probably not going to happen, because i was definitely looking forward to going to irwindale twice potentially, and seeing the judging changes in action myself. Guess we'll have to wait till 2021.

@@folarin78 Did you even watch the first run? Jerrod even pointed it out? Should have never been a OMT. Dean's first follow run was pretty much garbage, don't say anything about proximity. Its easy to run up on someones door when your not carrying any angle. Just more questionable calls from FD judges.

Mega late to the party, I started seeing FD not long ago, haven't pick a driver yet. That being said, I don't understand why people is saying that, on they final run Wang went waaay "down" the road, leaving less room to Deane to set the car properly before the first transition, so he did what he could and just kept his car close to no lose ground. Just my uneducated opinion btw.

Favors proximity over angle, line, and fluidity, Deane was lower had less angle and was surging back and forth all the way around the bank. That's sloppy and wang did it better even if he did have to play catch up a bit. There should be no way the judges could spin that to make deane the winner. He had 3 battles to clean it up and did the same thing 3 times. He never adjusted he never matched the line and he had almost no angle. People have been complaining about the judges for a long time and FD wonders why. This is the perfect example.

@@packer818 Definitely. All the reasons for the OMT were technical but to the naked eye I can see why people assumed forest won and why they believed he was robbed. Had to rewatch the clip a couple times before I understood it myself

I also like when you said about judging preference. you are right, we need to understand the rule when watching a drifting competition. DMEC, FD, D1, RDS, DGX has their own judging rules.

nah wiecek makes a bigger mistake in chase with a lot of correction and contact with gushi and ended up making an incomplete chase

He won the overall championship for the combination of 8 rounds. That’s separate from the event standings of this particular event.

When somebody had 20 degrees more angle and flows through a corner and on line. But still loses you have a judgement problem

@@BassheadStewie oh not to mention piotr also did that against ken gushi... i guess they had some setup problems (tyre size, tyre pressure,suspension and so on), still judges dont care about that but either way they couldnt do much angle but they did proximity... so isnt as easy as people think to judge

You clearly don’t actually drift or know anything about handling slow lead cars. People say Aasbo parks it on people all the time so how is wang not doing the same thing? That whole 1 second difference came off the bank alone which does make a huge difference when 1 car is designed to look good at top speed and one is great for cruising in backwards

It’s drifting. Not all cars have the same 1000hp. If an AE86 has only 250hp, the chase car is still supposed to mimic the lead car, regardless of speed.. Deane wasn’t properly chasing the lead car and he drove straight basically. Massive angle > straight line speed.
