In this video I talk about dry washing a spot at a n old gold mine that was bull dozed in the 1980s and then shot up with a shotgun. There was to much lead to really detect the area so I used my dry washer to get the gold. My video on how to build your own dry washer can be found at:

This is great to have by a stream away from the water! You work the benches! You sample and find gold! And have a highbanker, sluice and pans if you can’t dredge right! Especially in California! You need mechanic gloves or your hands will be sore at the end of the day!

Very nice gold for the amount of material ! Looks like a very good spot, especially channels in the bedrock. Definitely where the gold is hiding. Thanks for another great video.

Wow, I didn't expect that you would have found that much gold. I enjoyed this episode of Forrest dry washing. If I could only have one book about gold prospecting, it would be your book "Fists Full of Gold". Such a wealth of information in the book. I consider it a complete book of prospecting for gold.

I have a friend who is set up to cast bullets so I reuse my lead and cast them into new bullets.

Are they plantation pines or natural? Buckshot is everywhere in Australian goldfields the old timers must of eaten a lot of birds or were bad shots 😁

Just buy a solar panel with alagator clips and connect to the battery and you can go all day charging your battery!

Nice cup of gold, wondering if there is much risk for contracting Valley Fever from the dust in your neck of the woods?

There is always the potential, though it seems more prevalent in warmer areas like the south west US - and I was working in the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada. Also, an estimated 60% of people infected with the fungi responsible for Valley Fever have minimal to no symptoms.

Yes, its easier, but you dont get much gold sitting on an easy chair.

Can an electrical system catch or direct the fine gold dust to a collector? Filter?

No it cannot separate the gold from the dust. You get loads of dust with traces of gold.

Sometimes detector operators do find weird stuff. I know of a guy who found a hammer that was the murder weapon of a crime committed about 10 years previously.

How big is your battery and how long can you dry wash with it?

8x2x1.5 inches - weighs a little over a pound and I carry two as one only goes for a half day.

Do these dry washers also collect other metals like Platinum or even alluvium gem stones ?

They collect dense materials. This includes gold, platinum, lead bullets, and sapphires. Gems that are not more dense than regular rock (like quartz) will not be collected.

Hi Chris, That's a very good haul for this little spot you dug out, but I'm sure you came out to two grams if you would swipe/brush every last bit of material from the bedrock. I'd freak out if there were such spots in my area. Best regards from Germany.

Do you prefer the puffer over the blower type of drywasher? I am thinking of going with a blower because the blower can be a vacuum. Love your videos and advice on prospecting.

Like like my puffer because it is so portable. There are advantages to the blower motor type, but more stuff to carry if you need to go a ways from your vehicle.
