For actual off roading it'll never really be super successful. The more bare bones of a platform the better and being electric you can only go so far without charging

Until charging stations are more widespread this will never take off. You simply won’t find an electric charging station off-roading in the middle of nowhere, but you will find a gas station

I think its an outcome of people watching movies/playing video games that look so realistic its starting to mess with how we view the real world. I see things with my own eyes sometimes and think, if I had seen this in a video, would I have thought it was fake? Life and nature looks so beautiful/weird that sometimes it just looks fake 🤷‍♂️

It wouldn't be impossible per se, but there's a few things to consider with something like that. For one, it would be ridiculously heavy and awkward to move around if it's gonna be able to store a noticable amount of charge, considering how heavy the main battery is on EVs. Two, the rate of charge would probably be atrocious, since it already takes like 45 - 60 mins to charge an EV at one of those public charging stations

If Rivian had a portable charger that could take up half the space of the gear tunnel, that would be awesome.

@@forrestsautoreviewsofficial it's a pickup, just get rid of the gear tunnel and turn it into battery area to increase the range in the first place. It's nearly useless for someone that is pulling a decent size travel trailer. I just got back from visiting my son and his family for the long Easter weekend. 260 miles each way. I was able to do it on one tank each way. I would have had to stop and charge the truck at least twice on the way. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice truck, but it costs way too much for me, and my lifestyle an electric car or truck just isn't a good fit.

I mean, I was literally out on a mountain in this video. Roughly an hour for me to get to the base, an hour to get to the top, an hour get down, and another hour to get back home. You just leave with a full charge and you’ll be good. This truck is solid for day trips or even 1 overnight/camping off-road trip. However, this couldn’t do multiple days of over-landing. Simply wouldn’t have enough charge to complete the trip.

It literally has no utility you’re not gonna pull the bed off and put a flatbed or a work bed in the back

Unless it takes 300 miles to get to the top of the hill, you’re not running out of battery.
