She’s not really concerned with Moghedian, it’s the others that worry her. The Spider is _faaar_ weaker in the power than Lanfear, which I take to mean that if she really wanted to, she could’ve broken that little trap and sent her hurtling through a wall. I think she _let_ Moghedian trap her, possibly in an effort to glean some knowledge as to the other Forsaken’s whereabouts, but most likely to figure out what the hell the Spider has stuck her fingers into now.

⁠@@TheCorrodedManwell maybe maybe not. That confrontation was in the dream world and moghedian is the master of the the dream world. Despite Lanfear also being very strong in the world of dreams. But no one can influence the dream like the spider. In an 1v1 moghedien would be crushed without preparation but she needed to keep weaving to keep her trapped. Also I think she just did it to confront her and than to have enough time to leave.

I can't wait to see more of her next season, it will be good to see how they present her next season!

I agree. The season finale left me massively disappointed, but the final scene with Moghedien was a definite up-swing. The actress did a phenomenal job!

@fanghur That is true, but I feel that's easily justifiable, though. Lanfear was caught off guard by seeing her, and Moghedien had time to prepare. She was playing with a weave as Lanfear walked in. She released it by the looks of it, but she might have just inverted it (made it invisible for those who don't know). So I'm pretty ok with that:)

True, she is the weakest of the Forsaken and considered a coward, but that doesn't make her less dangerous. She simply hides in the shadows and waits for the right moment to strike.

The whole point is that her strength is her preparation and strategies, and knowing how and when to strike. Like how guerrilla warfare is based on lightning attack and then quickly retreating. Her weakness for sure is open confrontation.

Good, people here get that. Some self-proclaimed "bookcloaks" are claiming that RJ is "spinning in his grave" because the show made Moghedian stronger than Lanfear. No they did not. This was no duel on equal terms. Moghedian doesn't fight that way. This was an ambush.

@@Aethelia I agree. But on the other hand, should this trap even have worked? You can’t shield someone vastly stronger in the Power than you are, at least not for long. When Nynaeve fought Moghedian, she and her were about evenly matched, but Moghedian managed to escape Nynaeve’s shield in short order.

Lanfear claimed to better at it, and to be the 2nd most powerful of the Forsaken, but in reality she's only the most powerful female. And even then one of her abilities were making people see her as way more powerful than she actually is.

That’s not true. Jordan very clearly stated Moghedian as the most adept in TAR. Brigitte also says so in the books. She can take things from TAR and make them real in the waking world, spies on the other forsaken undetected and turns Brigitte into a little girl to mention just a few things. Ishmael and Lanfear are great there by all means - Lanfear claims she’s the best even - but they’re not actually the most adapt there. This isn’t about power it’s about skill.

Moghedien is the weakest in the power, out of the forsaken yet she is equal to Nynaeve, that says a lot of how strong the forsaken really are in the one power.

Nyneave only got REALLY skilled in the later books, when she first made Moggy literally beg for her life she couldn’t go 1/10th of what she was capable later on in the books.

Right? I was really rooting for Ishamael to kill Rand and have victory in the end, I found it a little strange that he died so early on, since in the books it's not like that, but well, let's see what happens from now on

I thought I was the only one. The most interesting characters this season for me are Elayne and Lanfear! Rand gets a pass but his arc before the proclamation was a bit weak. The rest were either okay or just annoyingly bad.

It is always the great villains who makes a story, not the heroes.

She would if Ishamael told her to deliver the message, and dispatched the rest to prepare themselves by setting up their bases of operations.

She just caught Lanfear off guard, she's still weak for a forsaken.

@@meris8486 I'm pretty sure I know the 8 they're keeping. We've already seen Ishamael, Lanfear, and Moghedien. They need Asmodean and Semirhage for Rand's arc. Demandred and Graendal are too important to the last battle to nix. And they'll probably give Rahvin's role in Caemlyn to Sammael, who's almost as powerful and a hell of a lot more competent.

@@matthewhelland9258 See they're all pretty fun. I agree with Rahvin and Sammel, similar bullish characters who Rand deals with similarly jumping in their face with power. Graendal is up there, scary and competent but maybe her role could be accomplished by Lanfear or Moggy? Demandred is awesome in the last battle but he may as well only exist in the last battle. Semirhage is one of the hardest hitting Forsaken particularly for Rand, she does the most damage to him personally and I love that, but again, she may as well only exist for the ending of Knife Of Dreams and then Gathering Storm. Could her role be done by someone else? maybe. Asmodean is another character who I like in Fires Of Heaven, but he serves a similar role to Logain teaching Rand in season 2 (sorta) I feel that some merging of Asmodean with Logain or Taim would be practical.

@@meris8486 We know there are 8 in total, which means five left over. Aran'gar and Osan'gar might as well be merged into random dreadlords, nothing they do has much connection with their status as forsaken. Rahvin is basically a less competent Sammael, and Be'lal might as well be nonexistent. The only one who might be important enough to include is Mesaana, but she's not particularly powerful for a forsaken, so I think they'll pass her over for the stronger ones.

But we know that sheer strength in the One Power isn’t enough in the Dream World. Rahvin outmaneuvers and almost defeats Rand, because he knew the Dream World far better. Egwene defeats Mesaana despite the latter being stronger in the power, because she is a Dreamer. Hell, even Perrin who can’t channel is exceptionally strong in TAR.

Spider girl isn’t anything to do with spiders. Lanfear is unbeknownst to herself dreaming in this. She has been caught off guard. As Moghedian has been watching all of them from her seal in the dream world. Now that she’s free her true madness will show. The dark side of the power will be portrayed next season I believe.

Moghedian unlike Lanfear isn’t obligated to protecting Rand. Moghedian is by far the most insane person in the books. She’s truly mad.

Yes but I love what they did to her in the show. Just like her theme spiders she made a trap for Lanfear and she knew she cant beat her so she flew but even then she was able to stun Lanfear. Lanfear is an Immortal tho I was wondering why she was afraid to vut her arma when she can just heal but then again it is very painful.

Moghedian is weakest in raw power but forsaken aren't ranked only by raw power. When it comes to the traps and tactics she is amazingly skilled. I liked the batman analogy above in the comments.

I think it's because Lanfear knows Moghedien can be very crafty and elusive. That's my guess anyways.

The amount of One Power a channeler can hold isn’t the only thing that defines strength. Sure, Lanfear has much more raw strength compared to Moghedien. But Moghedien has other qualities that can make her stand on her own facing Lanfear. She won’t choose to face Lanfear unless she’s absolutely sure she can win. She’s quite sneaky and she can lay a lot of traps. She probably inverted the weave so Lanfear couldn’t see it until Moghedien wanted her to see. Anyway, I love moghedien and I hope she’ll meet her new best friend, Nynaeve!

That's right, the other one is already the strongest in managing the dream world, but if I'm not mistaken, Lanfear is the strongest of the abandoned ones in general.

There's a saying, "You can't plan for crazy". Lanfear might be stronger, but she walked into that room with her guard down and Moghedien got the drop on her. You can clearly see she's not the least bit intimidated by Moghedien herself, but more what she represents: the all the rest of the Forsaken are free and they all know she betrayed Ishamael. And six against one probably isn't the best of odds, even for Lanfear.

She did not shoot anything. She spun her webs in the room before Lanfear was there. She has the ability to lay out traps which Lanfear walked right into.

​@@dvp7 The show did a better portrayal of why the Forsaken should be feared. Not just strength but intelligence. They also did a good job introducing Lanfear early so they could give room to introduce the other Forsaken.

Moghedien is sneaky, she probably set the trap earlier, since she was playing with the weaves in her hands. Lanfear was caught off guard, but she is definitely stronger (except in the dream world)

Two things: I don’t think the “fear” we saw was Lanfear being afraid of Moggy. It was likely more shock that she was freed, especially when, to the last of lanfear’s knowledge, the seals were going to be thrown out into the ocean. And 2, Lanfear may be stronger than Moggy, but she doesn’t know where the rest of them are. She was caught off guard once. Doesn’t make sense to start a fight when you walked into a trap and don’t know where the others are. It worked for me and doesn’t contradict canon at all!

I mean, she had her weaves ready in this scene obviously. This could have also happened In the Dream world where Moghedien is stronger than Lanfear.
