Befolkningsmessig er Norge er et av de minste land i NATO, samtidig som det er et stort landområde å forsvare. Vi møter også allierte soldater på øvelse i Nord-Norge, og hva slags problemer de kan møte i norsk terreng og klima. Belyser også forhåndslagring av tyngre materiell.

Vi minner om at dette er historiske filmer og kan derfor inneholde ord og uttrykk man ikke lenger benytter i dagens samfunn. Dette må da ses i den sammenhengen/tidsperioden filmen er laget i og i forhold til hva som var sosialt aksepterte ord og uttrykk den gang. Filmene reflekterer ikke nødvendigvis Forsvarets nåværende synspunkt.

It is interesting to see footage of excercises from what is almost certainly the early '80s. I understand that some of the British forces who fought in the Falklands War went there straight from training in Norway. I imagine that the cold weather and rugged terrain in Norway helped prepare them for the very challenging conditions they operated under in the South Atlantic.

This reportage documents a certain period and is an interesting piece for those who enjoy to have an historical view. The scale of the manoeuvre which involves all the arms, is really impressive. The public of the 2020's is certainly not conscious any more of the level of commitment of the countries during the 1980's.
