On Mars there’s trouble afoot. It all begins with Jack responding to an alarm call from Fort Solis and ends with a life and deaf struggle to make it through the night before the storm arrives.

Can you save Jess ? The only thing thats bothering me that she came to save Jack yet she is the one who dies...that sucks ass, not happy ending at all.

Sadly no. Was told by a person who has contact with the devs that those were the only endings in the game. I was also a bit bothered by the fact that there wasn't an ending where you could somehow talk down Wyatt and make him surrender based on if you read all the documents, watched all the videos and opened the safe in Helen's office.

Love how not only does Roger Clark play a character named Jack, but he also yet again ends his story fighting for his life, crawling on the ground, with exasperated breathing 😂

f*ck, I spent nearly 3 hours watching a full playthrough expecting to enjoy it as a movie but in the ending things were never fully revealed, it stayed in that "grey area". What was about that "claw marks" part? What happened to the soil, the plants, what was the compound, what made people get sick? Why would Wyatt kill people who apparently were also against Helen? I hate it when I feel like I wasted my time...

@@haihuynh8337but these movies often give some answers. Here there is near nothing. Here, the open ending is just bad writing. Even the "bad guy" who talks and talks and talks never says anything useful. It's a joke of a writing. "I will kill you, maybe explaining why would help me, but instead I'll rant on other things because I don't want to reveal the story".

@@haihuynh8337 I don't say that everything should be explained. But in real life, people sometimes explains things because it helps. in this case, even though the villain think the protagonists are already dead and everybody should die, explaining things would help his plan : either by making people accept their death, or by making them careful in the slight case of him getting killed. Not explaining things is counterproductive here. It would be okay if there was no time or if the villain coundn't talk, but here they have plenty of time and the villain keeps ranting about the subject without explaining anything ! It's just lazy writing to create some "mystery".

@@clad95150you talk about real life so let me just say this. In real life, the villian would not explain his grand plan and monologue while trying to kill you. The villian does talk a lot, but the things he did reveal is believable in the sense that i can expect a real person to skim through the important bits, which he did, without explaining everything in full, which would not be realistic. The claw marks i believe are purposely left ambiguous, since its not the focus of the game and serve as more of a side note. The rest of the plot can be interpreted pretty well throught the mail and video logs. If you find them all, it paints a pretty clear picture while leaving just enough up to interpretation

@Devol101 right, but at the end of the day, it's a narrative focused game that fails to deliver a compelling narrative. The claw marks are never touched on, so why bring them into the equasion at all? The senior medical officer kills people because of a virus he believes to be running ranpant due to Helen's work, but there is never any conclusive evidence suggesting that other than the hand tremors. Wyatt thinks he's a force for good, stopping what needs to be stopped but he ends up enjoying it even going as far as taunting Jessica and then it's just over. I literally got nothing out of this game expect some amazing performances from its star power cast. Also Roger Clark was wasted.

So honestly what was it in the end? Had Wyatt just gone insane, and refused to believe Helen had made a stable successful compound? Or did he know and not care, because the mystery lethal contagion actually was there despite everything? I can't say I really get what that final clip with a replay of his "dont open the box" clip is about either.

After watching a gameplay think compound 26 was essentially some form of disease, and Wyatt wanted to stop it from getting to earth.

The emails where somebody was initially resisting Wyatt but eventually came around to his side made me think that Wyatt's fears about the mystery contagion were justified that said I have no idea why, from what we see the mystery contagion gives you a shaky hand, irritability, and flu symptoms. I wonder what the "and after that it's not good" part is. I think the box had one of the compounds in it which risks infecting Earth, but why did Wyatt send it? The game's story feels half finished --- I'd guess the original script was for a longer game, but they had to cut it short. I doubt we'll see a sequel since this one is getting bad reviews.

Thats a teaser for part 2 1) Compound affects people differently and some people are driven insane 2) Compound actually creates health problems, or aging this was covered up, as higher up dont want to hear it 3) Compound is actually alive, perhaps alien life form that grows but also then can rapidly age and its can move from the compound to plant and humans 4) Compound being tested on humans without knowing it ? perhaps its a way to reduce the earth population to save the planet ? Ending seems to leave a lot unexplained.

I really enjoyed this movie-game, but the fact you can´t save Jess is just straight dumb. I don´t mind main characters dying almost ever, but there needs to be some point. This was just.. ey, she ded, seeya.

This is a perfect example of "just because you want to and can, doesn't mean you should". Jessica didn't need to die for a one liner that was pathetic because it sounded good in the devs/writers mind. These stories where they don't make sure the antagonist is dead, when they clearly had time to because "reasons", is terrible. Game was at least medicore until that part, because with all the blood around, you'd think you make sure you have a weapon? Imaging poking fun at your own protagonist via Jessica with the stupid zombie references and actually not doing anything about it. Also, nobody wakes up after a short minute, remembers what they have to do, and have perfect control over their body after 2 unsuspected traumatic (DEADLY) blows to the head from a heavy metallic object (3 if you count the table.). The idea that you can knock someone out like in the movies with a karate chop to the neck is a lie. You're lucky if you can even remember what happened after you wake up, or in the karate chop case, not getting spinal injuries, which likely leaves you paralyzed. This makes the game even more unsatisfying because the devs/writers forced a terrible ending down your throat because of "reasons".

The fighting choreography in this is completely terrible. It's like the story was designed all around the villain for him to have the 'plot armor' until the ending.

Bruh.. I literally instinctively was yelling 😂 even before he whe y to help Jess.. like “OMG NOOOOOO.. u u knocked himself out for a moment now SWING THE AXE AT HIS UNCONSCIOUS BODY” NOBODY IRL would have not finished him.. ur on another planet where everting is breaking down and ppl are dead and there’s a serial killer u just knocked out and the armed security is nowhere to be found.. u have one option kill the serial killer who literally just axed ur friend in the side… wtf are u doing that’s not killing that man .. 😂 the moment Jack say Jess down I literally said OMG SHES DED WHEN U TURN AROUND.. 😂I actually think this is specify part is BAD WRITING fir the sake of the plot.. on the bright side Wyatt literally ironically killed his wife and kids and probably all of earth cause he sent a plant to them 😂 out of hate for Wyatt and the evil he’s done to try to prevent it I think it’s justice/karma he caused the death of his own family that he was tryna prevent by murdering innocent ppl.. that’s good writting .. entire story I was so invested until that part where the writers just had Jack have the advantage over a serial killer in a positio to end it to just be like “actually u know wut.. imma actually just take Jess.. turn my back and walk away like u won’t shake off a hit bad just come after us again” I was completely taking out the story here like “BRO ARE U STUPID?!” If it was me and u where Wyatt the serial killer and I got the upper hand like that.. I will utterly and brutally split ur head in half.. 😂 VEHEMENTLY SPLIT UR SKULL… 😂

I think it shows up when the game is finished since I don't recall picking it up in any of the terminals. Look at the extra section under story and the video should be there.

I don't find that video either, where I checked every computer/terminal in this game with all other A/V logs, except that video & one poster only, & helen's safe (not sure what's inside that). So I guess that video is auto generated once the player finished the game in the extras.

The bad ending is such a absurd , like the way you respond to controls seriously get's affected by your hardware, this game is initially released with a bad optimization, and seeing a 35-50 frames with bad lows % makes this unplayable sometimes, which impacts my latency, even the FSR doesn't help, like my RX 6700 XT is seriously not a bad card, I missed two times which resulted in a bad ending, nice game 👍

Not in one playthrough, but you can go back to a save state right before the final decision to do things differently to get the other ending without having to play through most of the game.

For real, I don’t know what I missed. There was multiple lines of “claw marks on a door” and “you haven’t seen what I’ve seen.” But all it seems actually happens is some people got a little sick and then Wyatt went crazy. No one was dying or at least their deaths were not shown how they died to the sickness. Just that Wyatt killed them all because he went insane.

It is a combination. The research would cause plants to be poison basically and the crew was realizing the whole project meay lead to nowhere. And then Wyatt lost his mind because of isolation, fear, dark and all these things that are the reasons why very few people can actually be astronauts.

Just my interpretation, but I believe he felt isolated after being so long away from his family and alienated by his coworkers at Fort Solis after they refused to listen to him. These things, combined with the typical stressors you’d expect living on Mars, made him snap. He took drastic measures to “contain” the situation because, after everything else that had happened, it seemed there was simply no other solution, that this was what he needed to do.

My two cents, everyone was infected/sick/exposed and people were dropping like flies, all the symptoms he saw and reported were being ignored. It's stressed over and over in the game the association with the compound they were creating with the soil on Mars and the number of people who started getting ill showing similar symptoms of radiation poisoning. The closer to the source (miners) the sooner they got ill. Remember the plan they were working towards was to create a viable soil where plants could grow QUICKLY on earth to restabilize the atmosphere with oxygen. Wyatt knew that if the cons of the soil/compound were ignored in the act of trying to save earth we would essentially "poison" everyone and wipe out the human race. So he was trying to "contain the situation" for the greater good.

Absolutely useless protagonists. Wyatt unrealisticly pulls out an axe from his thigh after being stabbed and wounded multiple times and GETS UP???!!! also ... Imagine hitting a murderer just to turn your back at them and sit down and NOT NOTICE them running with an axe at you. Jessicas death was like the easiest avoidable death in gaming history. Uncompetent protagonists always piss me off so much. Other than visuals the game is trash no way i would ever buy it.

Watched the entire gameplay and some events were played differently and yet the game still had Jessica die. So technically this game is just an overblown Slasher genre game. No big reveals and basically nihilistic. Looks beautiful, but it seems to waste graphics and atmosphere to be a generic Slasher story... Guess we should had taken Jessica and Jack's banter on Horror movies a bit more in as a warning what to expect, smh.

apart from the "girl being the knight this time and saves the boy" part, which is for me the only highlight of this game, it's a boring walking simulator with space version of office politics leading to paranoid murder as a background story. if the compound is as dangerous as Wyatt says, why are all his actions contradicting? Mark Twain said that the real world ain't got no logic, but this ain't real world, this is a space horror game with the absolute need of a story explanation, you hence need 100% logic, or else it's crap.

Yep the game is so bad. Remember, Even tough you're not a good fighter, use your surroundings as your advantage. You can clearly tell, there's a killer/ psycho on the loose I'd rather play those Troopers at the end
