The whole reason I came up North this far was to learn about Billy the Kid. The Museum had so much on Him. It was well worth $4.00 for everything I saw. Going to His grave site was cool also. I was there so why not check it all out!

Out of all the places that charge WAY To Much for admission that museum was Well Worth the $4. Shoot I'd even throw in $10 into a donation jar. So much h=History in such a small area that most people have Never or will ever see or believe existed anymore. Thank You so much for sharing this with the world.

I've heard of Martha Jane Cannary, better known as Calamity Jane, who was a well-known American frontierswoman, sharpshooter, and raconteur. In addition to many exploits, she was known for being an acquaintance of Wild Bill Hickok. Late in her life, she appeared in Buffalo Bill's Wild West show and at the 1901 Pan-American Exposition. I was going to also say that I wish I could have a wagon wheel. It makes great yard artwork. I've been wanting one for years. Each time that I go out west I want one but I fly. LOL Can't take it on the plane.

Liked the urban art and the small town culture. Though it is sparse, it looks like my kind of place. No one to bother you. Live and let live. 😄 Huge museum! I really liked the carriages, typewriters and saddles. History of Billy The Kid was interesting. Thank you so much for your long trek through it all and your commentary. You're the only person I've found, so far, who gives extended tours of NM nomad camping. I guess most people just zip on through on their way to AZ, CO and other western destinations. I drove through in mid-80's on my way to move to CA. I remember Tucumcari, Albuquerque and Gallup, because I stopped in those places. For some reason, I like NM.

I could spend all day just looking at those guns! A couple of them have my name written all over them. I wonder what they're worth today? I love guns. My daddy and grandpa were both gun dealers. Been around guns since the day I was born. I'd loved to have lived back then. I think I could've made it just fine. A lot of all this newer stuff is overrated in my opinion.

I thoroughly enjoyed your video!! I accidentally clicked the dislike instead of like button at first, I hope you did not receive that wrong feedback! I have been to Fort Sumner 3 or 4 times, and still thanks to your video I am discovering things I had not taken time to notice. Especially the artwork in town. If you ever come back to NM, I think you will enjoy the Bosque Redondo Memorial museum (next to Billy's tomb). Pretty sad since it shows the living (rather dying) conditions at the camp built at Fort Sumner for Navajo and Apache prisoners. It reenacts the Long Walk of the Navajo through an interactive tunnel, and has lots of memorabilia. According to local elders at Fort Sumner, Billy did come back into town because of his love interest, but she was not Paulita (who actually denied any romantic involvement with him into her old age), rather a young woman of Navajo descent, Abrana García, whom many Billy aficionados overlook. In the Fort Sumner museum you have visited, there is also amazing information about Deluvina Maxwell, another person of Navajo heritage who was purchased by the Maxwell family when they lived in Cimarrón, Northern NM, and she stayed with them ever since. She was close friends with Billy, and she is the first one who stepped into the room where Billy was killed. She loved him with all her heart, more like a sister or a mother. She died in 1927 in Albuquerque, NM, still remembering Billy. Greetings and Gratitude to you!

I had to visit Ft. Sumner on business (National Scientific Balloon Facility, sub-location of Palistine, TX). Interesting...Food was good (Hatch Chile dishes). No real dramatic scenery and actually kind of overcast grey, boring and forlorn accentuated by by the podunk Victorian themed mom-and-pop museums....but none the less, left you with a distinct impression of the struggles, and dullness of the southwest in the late 1800's.

I find it amazing that Fort Sumner still wants to make money off of something they know isn't true. I truly believe they would make more money from the truth. That is if someone is smart enough to promote it. Come on Fort Sumner, dig him up. Since you refuse, why is that?
