When I use the Quadratic Formula for any quadratic equation, I always set a > 0 to cut down on the negatives. This video definitely proves the Quadratic Formula. Thanks for providing this much needed video!

Mr.Whitt I still don't understand the Square root property, here is my problem (x+9)^2 +75=0... I used the quadratic formula my professor will ask me to use this on the math test help!!!

Using |absolute value| which restricts the number to being only being a +positive result is wrong because the value of "a" might be a negative number. The square ROOT of a number can both be positive and negative. Restricting to a positive root, incorrectly called a "principle root" is incorrect. Yes, in the real world we don't deal with negative numbers much so why even teach the square root of -1 is i, if you dont even use it IN REAL LIFE?!

??? I clearly show the result is positive and negative in the proof. Also, the process of the absolute value shows how the result can be positive as well as negative. I don’t understand your point.
