In 1996, not that long ago kid, a dentist retired in Livingston MT. Small town, one of the only dentists at the time. The replacement was a young black man and his wife and two kids. Picture perfect family. My buddies and I went over to say hi, because we lived on P, nearby. We were outside playing.Six trucks showed up. Every truck had ten monsters in it. “Leader” went to the door with a shotgun, talked to the dentist. That dentist and his nice family, packed up and left that very next day. Stuff like this still happens all over, don’t fool yourselves. There are some hateful people in This world.

I went to school with Medgar Evers daughter in Pomona CA (college town) late 60s. They burnt an effigy in her yard and did all manner of shit things. I'm very sensitive and empathic, and I have a dark man inside my white jewish body. So we sat next to each other and were tender friends. She held her pain with a lot of class, but she knew I felt it and respected it at least.

Wow. a well armed militia is the best defencae against progress, apparently. thinking back to Arrowsmith, that really hurts worse, because it really is difficult on its face to provide a medical service that is limited in that kind of environment already- resource problems, no backup, etc. That kind of awesomeness ahould be rewarded, not driven out of town.

I haven’t noticed any hatred bubbling up against the gays in my area. I have noticed that the transsexuals/ transgenders are catching hell.

No, they did not. And Trump supported gay marriage way before any major public figure. No matter how you feel about anyone, you should tell the truth about them.

That whole country's broken. Yeah Trump was appealing to the far right, but the left makes trouble for themselves. After several years of moderates only agreeing with 90% of LGBTQ values, and being called Nazis for not agreeing all the way, they shockingly stopped giving a shit about LGBTQ values.

The only people I hate are the intolerant. (Not like lactose intolerant, people who don't tolerate others) That is the only group of people that really steps on other people's feet, everyone else is just trying to get by

That's a laughably stupid correlation to make. It's the exact same rhetoric as ever. It was 10-15 years ago that most of the same people were against gays getting MARRIED. Don't kid yourself and don't spread the lies that "trans people should be cut out of LGBT because they're too troublesome." Don't blame the victims. The prejudice and stupidity of bigoted people hasn't changed a bit.

I've heard the small towns in Vermont are pretty good. They look like any other backwoods but there'll be signs saying "We believe science" and "love is love" instead of "Trump is Jesus!"

It is normal that happens. In countries that are not puritan the inclusion has been frictionless and people live more harmoniously. In the US passed from rejection to impose it in movies, TV shows, politics to the point in which it was created even an animosity to people who are not from that community. The same was done with race, when they make the majority groups feel guilty by default and constantly blaming them. The lobby of that community has pushed so many toxic messages disguised as "inclusion" when it only seemed as revenge and vitriol that people are fed up. It is forced into every movie as if art is not destroyed when is made by political mandate and not inspiration. The puritan component of shaming, imposing and punishing social tools that are seen as acceptable in the US (not in other places) , have been used in this case against the majority of the population non stop for a decade now. People are not cool with being treated like that (fed up actually), and they are reacting. In places where there is less political correctness (small towns) it is going to be more intense. Countries without that "framework" have not gone through the same. When she says that she does not know why is a little naïve. All that is entangled lately everywhere. It is way bigger than that, it includes indoctrination of the young ones disguised as education. They think their political views are moral principles, when they are not. Too many moving parts and time will tell how it stabilizes.

The majority of the population reacts violently to 1/100th of the shame & guilt that the minorities they oppress must put up with constantly. Don't kid yourself. The slow change to acceptance doesn't mean we can never confront the "poor oppressed majority made to feel guilty." Most bigotry of any stripe occupies a silent part of people's minds and echoes in laws & power. So any challenge to that bigotry is viewed as threatening and uncomfortable to people who are perfectly happy hating others without response.
