I will never stop asking for a Fortune Street game to come to the Switch. Its style of gameplay mixed with the portability of the Switch would be a match made in heaven.

I simultaneously adore and despise Fortune Street. Unlocking everything is horrendous (single player only, non-stop cheating from the CPU, long games, etc). However, the multiplayer is one of my absolute favorites.

You know what could have saved the Square Enix E3 presentation? Fortune Street on the PS4 getting localized and releasing in North America.

Moral of the story: Never buy a game if your primary reason is playing with your friends. They may not want to play it with you. Oh also this game did NOT need to go so hard on the Mario World Bowser battle theme but I'm glad they did. Its the most intense Bowser theme ever made imo

This is one of my favorite Wii games. High praise, I know, but I enjoyed playing it and I have enjoyed watching TheRunawayGuys play it on their channel.

Thank you for talking about one of my favorite Wii games. I remember buying it within a week of it launching and I loved it. I still have the copy I bought and still play it to this day. I was very upset when the new one was announced for PS4 but didn't come to the US. Maybe one day...

Fortune Street was my introduction to Dragon Quest, but Hero's inclusion in Smash and my interest in Dragon Quest XI, made me a full-on Dragon Quest fan. So Fortune Street played an important role in that and I'm thankful for it

TRG gave this game a brighter spotlight! And it deserves it!

Fortune Street is an interesting concept that unfortunately suffers from a lack of dedicated budgeting and development. If a new game was made with the effort of a Mario Sports title and had iconic locations from Dragon Quest and Super Mario fully reimagined for the purpose of Fortune Street rather than just a background aesthetic I think it would do much better internationally, especially on the Switch. It just needs to not operate like a low budget title and have smooth animations and transitions, kinda like a more intelligent and analytic Mario Party board.

I loved the fortune street on the wii. i also bought it after seeing the first 5 min. of an TRG game and played the game with my friends soooo much. sadly the game is quite dated and my friendgroup had to split up, so i am still keeping my ears open for another fortune street-esque game with online to bring the party back together. Please make it happen :/

Fortune Street's one of my all-time favorite Wii gems, which, for me, is saying a lot. I'm saddened to hear that Derrick's experience with the game hasn't been that pleasant, but part of it is very relatable - I've also had to deal with the fact that I've only played the game against CPU. While it was still enough for me to thoroughly enjoy the game, I can understand how such a circumstance could be less than satisfying. In terms of the Wii game's commercial performance (or lack thereof), I think there were several factors at play. It was released late in the Wii's life, and I don't recall Nintendo (the game's publisher outside Japan) doing very much to explain what the game even was. I remember this FS often being confused as a Mario Party kind of game, and unless you either decided to take a splash on the game randomly, you probably needed word of mouth from other players to know how good it was. These wouldn't have been as huge of hurdles in Japan, so I suspect that the game was still successful in its entirety, although I don't know for sure. In any case, it's still a bit shocking to see that a Switch version hasn't even been released, let alone localized. Since this game has become something of a cult hit, I suspect that a lot more people are at least aware of what Fortune Street actually is now, even if they've never played it, and I think the game would do significantly better on the Switch platform, provided that it isn't released too late in the system's cycle. I have my fingers crossed that we will see the Mario and DQ crew return for more property-buying and stock-owning shenanigans sooner than later.

Still get together to play this with friends every so often, we love it!

I love playing this game with my friends. It's an absolute banger.

I bought it off Amazon for ten bucks on a whim in 2011 or so. I struggled getting into it. Lent it to my sister, and she got super into it. Makes a few of us play it a lot, in bursts. A reason to keep the Wii hooked up, anyway. I'm not too good, but it's a fun time.

I bought Fortune Street because of the TRG playthrough! I was lucky to find a bunch of copies of it a 3-4 years ago at my Book Off. It was relatively cheap to, since it was less than $20 (don’t remember the exact amount, but I know I didn’t spend more than $20 for it). I could never get 4 players to play it. The most we got was 3, and during that time the other 2 didn’t like the game. However, brother liked to play with me. Despite only having 2 human players, we had a lot of crazy games. We had an agreement that no matter what, we would never let the computer win. One example of this was when the computer was past the goal amount, but was far away from the bank. My brother was close to the bank but did not have enough money to win. My turn was after the computer, so on my roll there was a split path and I purposely landed on my brothers +2000 property just so that he could win (his turn was after mine).

I remember when this game launched and always bring so hyped to play what was essentially monopoly with DQ and Mario characters. Wish I knew people who enjoyed these kinda games loved this game nonetheless

I love Fortune Street, or Boom Street as it is called in Europe. The earliest memories I have of this game is gameplay from Slimkirby's Let's Play and thought it looked like fun. So I bought the game, played it and loved it alot! Easy rules was fun, Standard Rules was a bit too advanced for me at first, but eventually sort of got the hang of it. I'm wondering, why isn't this game ported to Switch? I would love to play Boom Street again on a newer system. Boom Street definately a underrated gem in the Wii library.

You could play Fortune Street with others through Wiimmfi, I haven't played it myself yet but I have played countless other games that supported Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection using Wiimmfi. If you check their website you can see what games are currently being played at any given time, which is how I got into a few games with random people

I poured hours into Fortune Street and I absolutely love it. And I played it solo pretty much all the time. Occasionally I got my parents in on the game and they enjoyed it too, but I spent so much time on Fortune Street and I loved every moment of it.

I love playing this game up to 999,000. I've long maxed out the total playtime counter at 99:59, and it is my favorite game ever, hoping for a new localization!

My buddy and I both enjoy Monopoly and many other board games, I bought this game for the Wii back in the day and I remember the two of us having a fun time trying to figure out how the game works.

Man, it's been 10 years since Fortune Street was released on Wii! Man did I miss out on something special! Of course these games existed before the Wii game (heck, the original JP version of Fortune Street is called Itadaki Street Wii), but seeing that Square Enix was willing to take a chance with the Wii entry is something I can appreciate! The Wii game is basically a souped-up version of Itadaki Street DS, which I did play... through... **ahem** ...other means... and boy is that game weird! I mean the core gameplay of the Itadaki games are there, but the Mario characters do out of character things in that game, and the Dragon Quest characters look like creepy dolls that don't fit in with the Mario cast. Yikes! The Wii game looks so much better than the DS game! So glad we got that localized! In fact, the wii game and a mobile iteration of Itadaki Street are currently the only games localized. The latest iteration, which celebrated Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy's anniversaries stayed in Japan... and is only on PS4. You'd think Square would make that game a multi platform game on both Switch and PS4... but nope.

My brother and I bought it from a used game store, but it didn't work, so we ended up having to return it never having played it.

If you want to play it online then you could just emulate it and see if that works well for you.

Fortune Street was fun enough on it's own that the single player, at least to me, is still fun. Granted I've only played the first few boards which have relatively easy ai but at least those were fun lol. I watched slimkirby go through the single player so maybe that's why it's still fun to me. I dunno fortune street is just great no matter how you play it.

Sounds like the game is kind of mid. You saw a bunch of friends playing it and having a blast which can happen with the crappiest of games. That's why as soon as you weren't able to play the game with friends you decided that it wasn't worth it
