what's interesting is that some of the things that fortune tellers look at to guess your future, and this is why I think this probably caught on in whatever era of humanity it did, is that they are linked to activities that you do already or to traits that have been correlated to success. Like people get lip filler because they think it makes them look more attractive and most people agree with that, and in general, the more attractive someone is, the more likely it is that they're successful financially. if you use your hands a lot when you are younger, it can cause like the skin on your hand to fold a different way. if you have a bigger fold on the top, it's because you lift things. so that's manual labor. so you're probably not as highly educated which most people associate with logical ability which is not true but the perceptions there.

In the Sri Lankan one they just asked me for my thumb print and went on telling my fortune, out of which all came true so far and they went ahead to say the name, occupation and relationship between my mom, dad, and brother. My dad gave his fingerprint and his stuff were 100% till now. I didn't believe in fortune telling till this happened but apparently many hindu religious leaders know about this place (I'm Buddhist tho). Will I get married soon? Who stole my phone? - and she just flips her cards and gives you such specific information that she couldn't have possibly guessed or known beforehand. My mom had asked her what made her brother sick, and somehow that lady knew what had happened PLUS she mentioned that the spirit of my uncle's first son from his first wife (both of whom had passed away long ago) was "waiting on the other side of the river with his dad's slippers" to welcome him. My mom hadn't said anything about those two, there was no need to, so how did the lady know?? It's cool but pretty creepy.

Personally, I don't believe on fortune telling because it has a psychological effect on people, which leads to law of atttaction. It's like a domino effect. Fortune telling is popular in most asian cultures. But I boycotted it because whatever the fortune teller said never came true, same experience for my friends.
