We compare the graphics of Forza Horizon 3 on PC and Xbox One. PC is set to max graphics while motion blur is turned off. There is an overview of the graphics options at the end of the video. Forza Horizon 3 takes you to Australia to race its diverse landscape from beautiful beaches, lively rain forests to the rocky canyons of the outback. The digital version of Forza Horizon 3 is a play anywhere title, which allows you to get a copy of the game for Xbox One and Windows 10 Anniversary Edition.

The best thing about this game is that PC and Xbox Players can play together, it's great how the graphics are barely different too :D

the only thing i care about the pc version is that it doesn't have to run at 30fps. that's the sole reason i'm going to play on pc and not on my xone. although this is the kind of game my tv's frame interpolation does a stellar job without ruining gameplay (i can play racing games with 80~100ms input lag just fine)

Amouxaden fxaa was turned off which is why anti aliasing wasn't looking smooth

It would be better to have PC run at 4K, that way you would truly max out the PC version of the game. Uploading in 4K would also benefit the KZfaq bitrate.

I think it's a fair thing to ask... I mean, why would someone who can avoid it still play games at 1080p? It's one thing if you haven't upgraded in a while but for people with a graphics card from the last 2 or 3 years, seeing how it handles 4k is valuable information.

My msaax8 works fine but guys know that you don't need 8x if you're playing it at 1440p or 2160. Not needed. Just leave it on 4x

It genuinely makes sense though, before I had a high end PC I had something on par with a PS4 and most AAA were 30-45fps, so motion blur made things less jumpy

I think it's why PC players hate 30fps so much because it looks like garbage on PC compared to console. Even adding motion blur to a game at 30fps on PC won't give you as smooth an experience as they manage on console.

30 FPS looks the same everywhere. It just seems worse on PC mainly because most PC games run at 60 FPS or more, and have done so for a long time. Whereas on consoles, 30 FPS is the standard, and as a result you're used to it. Try playing a game at 10 FPS for long enough without any other game in between sessions, and I guarantee eventually you'll think 10 FPS feels smooth as well. Also movement on PC is usually more precise 'cause of the mouse, which also makes low framerate stand out more.

Did you use the most current Drivers from AMD / Nvidia? The game seems to run a lot more stable for me that I been testing out. Working on a Before / After GameReady Drivers video.

The MSAA is better on PC, but FXAA accounts for temporal aliasing better than MSAA, and that isn't enabled in this video.

You definitely won't need a 4X Xbox One priced PC to play Forza Horizon 3 at high settings, 1080p and 30 FPS. A PC that expensive could easily handle the game at 4X the Xbox One resolution.

This is honestly one of the best decisions MS has done in recent years. They could sweeten it even more by opening it up to redeeming digital copies on Steam or having some sort of Steam integration into the Windows Store so it happens automatically. Having to use a separate suite for MS games is a drag in a world filled with third party digital stores and services.

We've seen some MSFT garbage on Steam, granted, it was usually coupled with the horrific GFWL. They should offer everything with both drm-free and Steam keys. They'll make less money selling it through their storefront, yeah they'll avoid paying Valve monies, but they'll sell _way_ fewer copies on PC than they would with multiple digital delivery options.

Jusus Crust I run mine on Ultra and I use i7-870 and Armor GTX 1060. Varies between 50-60 fps though. Surfer's Paradise instantly drops it to 24 fps.

Could someone show me some insight on whether these crash issues still persist so far? Is the game stable on PC? I am not so confident about UWP apps but I really want this game, after all it is not cheap.So pls help me, thx!

all i'm noticing is a better framerate on the PC version and just ever so slightly better draw distances and reflections on PC. so for me the biggest difference is the framerate.

a versão de Xbox One me surpreendeu, tirou o máximo de potência do videogame, não tem como comparar console com PC, pc sempre terá melhores gráficos, mas para um videogame que é muito mais barato que um PC gamer, o Xone não fez feio, na Gameplay nem é perceptível a diferença, só com análises minuciosas como essa que percebemos, a maior diferença está nas sombras e reflexos no carro e na água, mas gostei de mais da versão de Xbox One!

Also, apparently there's some optimization on the PC side that hasn't been done yet. Since I reviewed the game, I was just sent an update by Microsoft. "NVIDIA and AMD will both be releasing game-ready drivers for Forza Horizon 3 today (Wednesday, Sept. 21). Until this time, current up-to-date drivers will work but won’t include performance optimizations and stability improvements in the NVIDA and AMD drivers." So we'll have to wait on those new drivers to see the actual performance.

That is not how it works... The uploaded footage on KZfaq decides the format. If I have recordings at 1080p it will stay 1080p on youtube. Only if I upload at 1440p it will become 1440p on the player...

***** Does not matter. If you record footage at a set resolution and export it at a higher one it will not just magically generate pixels. The quality will still be 1080p even though it might say 4k. I have seen a lot of people who say this but this is mostly people who have never really played or watched real recorded 4k footage. You would see the difference immediately.

It's more to do with the lower bitrate they use for the video compression at 1080p that creates more macroblocking compared to youtubes 1440p setting. Even if the source material is 1080p it will look better with a higher bitrate.

If you buy the game on the Xbox store you'll get the PC version too, if you buy the game on the PC windows store you'll get the Xbox version too.

That's because it maintains 30 fps 99.99% of the time with VSYNC, most games that claim to be 30 or 60 will drop frames in areas. Forza titles almost always maintain a solid and locked framerate and creates a much more smooth experience then normally with titles at the same framerate. Also the framerate can be unlocked on PC.

I agree with you. Back when I used to play console, you never noticed the difference between 30 and 60 (in the few titles that claimed to do it), now, after getting used to 60, 30 is like a stuttery mess. Its probably not as bad in a game like forza, but 60fps is enough to warrant me getting the PC variant over a console variant any day.

yupp.. that's the main issue. I don't really understand how they can make a racing game with 30 fps, but it's like that when everybody care about 1080p. Much better with 720p 60 fps. Wish I had a gaming pc :(

If you play in front of a TV it really doesn´t matter (at least to me)! You get used to it fairly quickly. Played racing games for ages on PlayStation Consoles and I bet they´ve nearly never been near to 60 FPS.

Um, yes they are. I'm getting around 70fps, going up to around 100fps+ at 1440p, everything maxed out, and that's using a gtx980Ti, Drops to around 55fps in heavy rain with lots of cars. But I have a G-sync monitor so it doesn't really matter. Both versions look great though. Game looks stunning on my OLED t.v. at 1080p.

You guys are both blind... Look at play through, the xbox version has a really weird low fps feel because it probably does less then 30. Also look at the reflections on the cars they are way clearer on the pc version. Also the bushes have higher textures and more details. Not to mention this is only with the pc at 1080p, wait until you see 4k if the game will support it.

It should be noted that KZfaq can't even show how good it looks on Xbox One so the differences might be bigger than this video shows but they did a fantastic job with the Xbox One hardware. Honestly I think the biggest difference you're going to see on PC is consistently higher quality car models and better AA.(Ignoring higher framerate and resolutions of course which will make the biggest difference.) One thing Xbox One has going for it is HDR though and unfortunately people on PC are going to have to wait a while before it is adopted on PC gaming.

xbone is lower res, the shadows look sharper and nicer on pc, lighting effects in general far better on pc; mostly because it is easier to implement better lighting than better textures in a port.

Xbox seems have dynamic resolution. Some areas looks high res than others. The shadows and textures are noticeable better on PC. PC also seems to have a higher draw distance but that is to be expected. With that in mind the xbox version doesn't look bad, but is indeed noticably worse than PC. The biggest issue, or my biggest issue is that you can see the Xbox is running at a slower framerate. It makes the the environment with the car is in motion not as smooth. It looks more blurry and less fluid while in motion on the xbox. (I am just nitpicking but these types of things would drive me crazy after a while)

it's, sadly, 30fps, as you can see on the video... Since horizon 1 it's locked on 30fps, 60fps for the main series (forza 1, 2, 3, .... etc). I know this because i played all of them, lol

The horizon series on Xbox has always been and will be on horizon 3 locked at 30 fps. The forza motorsport series is 60 fps on Xbox. Horizon 3/Apex and ALL future forza releases on PC will be 60 fps as that is the standard for PC gaming.

If you turn V-Sync off, you can run it as high as your monitor allows, so it's not even 60fps locked. Simply turn on GPU V-sync in your driver settings and you can lock it to a higher refresh rate

LOL. Wet dream, he says. I own a 55" 4k OLED TV and a 28" 4k Samsung monitor. LOTS of people I know own a 4k TV or monitor. Almost ALL PC gamers I know now own a monitor that is above 1080p resolution. We've moved on from console terribleness.

USA. Phoenix, Arizona. Nothing special. I don't even make that much money. Just budget well for my hobbies. You know, you can get a 4k monitor for about $4-500 now. They aren't that expensive. Now the 4k OLED? Yeah. That was kinda pricey... but my god was it ever worth it.

Ali KJR My 4k monitor cost me $499 and that was in FEBRUARY of this year. Fry's Electronics. At Newegg, right now, you can get the exact same 28" 4k monitor that I bought for $369. Fuck! Thanks for making me find that out. Now I feel like I wasted money. lol
