60 mph in forza horizon 4 feels like going 30 or 20 mph

Sounds are usually given very small memory and computing budgets in these games, graphics gets 90% of the resources. That why sounds are so compressed and "digital" sounding. I hope in the future sound gets its day in the sun

That flat-plane crank V8 of GT350R in FH4 was beyond a joke, I mean, what the hell was that? FM7 did justice to GT350R and to the M3 E92. R8 was the only car in FH4 which sounded okayish. FM7 hands down the winner.

To be honest, it depends on the car. Some sound better in M7, some sound better in H4. Most people don't know how most of the cars in Forza sound IRL, so it just comes down to what sounds you'd rather hear. I would love for them to use real sounds, but the vehicle graphics are phenomenal in both games, and that's more important than accurate sounds. We're really reaching a point where it may not be more than a decade before we have a game that truly looks like real life. The only problem is, the better games get, the longer they take to make.

dont judge by the mobile sounds, play the game on a proper 5.1 surround with a good sub for a better sound, u will only hear and feel the rumbles with a good woofer, not from crappy pc or mobile speakers

suspension physics in Forza 7 is better if you swap in the 6.2L V8 in the scout & make all the suspension soft, you can pull mad wheelies (only in some off-road trucks & jeeps that have alot of ground clearance)

In forza Motorsport, it sounds like they use the exact same sound file for high end noise, but layer their recording on top of it.

Car geek here, been liking cars even before I started to read lol gotta throw my humble opinion here: Viper: Okayish in FM7 (needs a bit more bass tho), poor in FH4 (better patch it quick, T10/PG). 430: Similar in both, decent enough sound. 570S: Too cross-plane-V8-ish in FM7, about right in FH4 (yet they reuse its sound for most McLarens). Mustang GT350R: Good in FM7, nonsense in FH4 (sounds more like a normal V8). R8 V10: Decent enough in both games. Still, they updated a Lambo (I think the Gallardo?), so they could just use that same sound on the R8 V10 and Huracan because it's the same engine. Aventador: Uses a generic V12 sound in FM7 (even shared with Ferraris D: ), good enough in FH4. Mercedes C AMG: Way too aggressive and high strung in FM7, closer to reality in FH4. 911: FM7's sound is a bit more aggressive, FH4's is a bit dull. Decent samples anyway, I think the FM7 one is better suited for the GT2 version of this Porsche. M3 E92: The sample is the same in both games. It's okay but not spot on, in my opinion it lacks a bit of oomph.

I genuinely love both but Forza 7 has better sounds. Also I must be the only one that's not as bothered by the engine sounds in fh4, as everyone else and I'm okay with that 👍. There are plenty of cars that sound good in that game and those are the ones I use. They may not sound exactly like the real car but they still sound good.

I like FH4 mainly cause of the freedom in the game. Sounds are nice but doing tracks and tracks and tracks gets boring sometimes for me in FM7. It’s still a good game but sometimes it’s fun to jump over hills and start flying

Honestly, even tho people are bashing FH4 for the game sounds, some of them aren’t even that bad. Recently, I’ve been watching vids of r33s and r32 skylines, and I noticed that they sound oddly close to FH3. And also, forza seems to be improving. The Ferrari f12 berlinetta/tdf sound is great, but it keeps getting copied and pasted. And they also nailed it with the Audi r8s

I love FM7, but it has some issues - I have this weird shadow glitch (flickering) and headlights glitch, what is really annoying - sometimes my headlights just disappear and I have big square shadow in the front of the car. And also performance issues - I have i5 8600K @4.7GHz and RTX 3070, and the game is installed on my fastest SSD, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe. And it still stutters like hell!

I don't understand why forza has to change sound files for every game

Forza horizon 4 sounds always gets criticized. I mean okay it's not realistic but it does the job to let me enjoy driving. Other aspects of the game aren't very realistic either.

Horizon 2 had the best car sounds reason they don't sound as good is because that record the cars on a Dyno in a garage so it doesn't sound as good now

Sadly the dodge viper is accurate in forza horizon 4. I saw videos of the sound and have seen some myself and they sound like a lawn mower a bit.

I don't know, I don't just waste my time binge watching videos of actual cars to make sure the ones in a game sound identical to real life (especially non pure sims). As long as they don't sound horrible I'm ok with it. If it does sound horrible I'll just engine swap it or just choose others of the over 558 VEHICLES in FH4 and over 700 VEHICLES in FM7. I feel bad for ppl that let that tiny aspect of a game turn them off because they'll just never be satisfied and won't ever truly enjoy anything in life.

Why can't they just record real cars? I mean, people pay 60-100 bucks for the game. Sometimes they also seem to record cars but then the crackles are totally unrealistic etc. Possibly my biggest complaint about the authenticity of racing games nowadays.

The vast majority sound better in F7. The only ones that don't sound better, sound pretty much the same. The Viper sounds very close to the real thing in F7. It doesn't have a V8 under the hood....

OK, so i haven't played games in quite awhile. i had an Xbox(or 3 don't remember which) and the last forza game i played was 3. i've decided to start racing again. which game would you recommend getting. and which system. keep in mind i'm an older guy. not big on tech. i just want the best racing experience. leaning much more to race track setting. and much less on street courses
