If you watch an analysis/theory video about the meaning and then re-read the lyrics you will find out that the fear is about them as idols and how people want them to always be perfect and carve them into how the audience wants them to be, making them lose sight of their self identity and changing making them not know who they are anymore. It's not supposed to sound heavy as if they're angry or telling the audience "get away from me, I'm poison" in that hard hitting manner, it's more like they're crying. It's as if they're telling us not to go near them as a fear of us getting hurt since they themselves don't know who they are anymore.
