Why is everything WatchOS related so laggy... The OS was developed around these lower spec'd processors...Why can't they make something that doesn't freeze or lag when doing simple tasks?

Android is very big and bloaty, you don't notice on something phone sized but it scales down really poorly

I recently got the Skagen Falster 2, after updating to wear os 2.3, It works like a charm, just make sure you have wi-fi connection for some of the apps that require one, because if there is none, that's when the watch becomes slightly sluggish.

I got mine for $60. It's become a lot faster from updates and .5x animations speeds. Sometimes I get worried that I lost my watch while I'm wearing it because it's so light. The interface is nice and easy to use. I love it.

The rotating side-button issue is related with the latest Android Wear update. I own a Fossil Q Explorist HR and the button was working almost perfectly until the H version update.

Phone call bug on WearOS is system wide across all WearOS devices. Had the same experience with the TicWatch E. Don't understand how this is still a problem. You'd think Google would at least patch the most basic of functions..

Did you notice the bezel much? It's the one thing that's kept me from getting one of these as my "weekend bang around" smartwatch (the Summit 2 is paired to my work phone and I worry about smacking it around while working on the race car; my Moto 360 Gen 2 is fine but I miss NFC on the weekends). The black screen bezel really stands out to me in the still shots I see on Fossil's website but I wonder if I'd really notice it in use. BTW that watchface with the big seconds is one of my favorite ever Fossil designs, I still have my analog version of that watch (physical hands with a dedicated sky-blue LCD background screen with the seconds) from 20 years ago 🙂

Yeah, I'm in the same boat here, how come nobody has tried to modernize the Pebble formula yet? Simple UI, not used through a touch screen because touch screens are hard to use when they're that small. I especially love the whole community aspect of it, one of the biggest reasons the watch was so useful is cause devs took advantage of what you can do with it, plus, that meant you had so many choices on watchfaces. The devbase is so based that they kept the watch running even after pebble support died. And it was waterproof. They gotta come up with something better eventually.

I'm still rocking my pebble time Kickstart backer, and it's going on almost 4 years since I got the thing, and I wear it almost every day. The only other smart watch I wore was the pebble steel. Thank God for Rebble.

@Morgan McLucas but all future Fossil smart watches will be led by Google right? Fossil still owns itself as a company, but it was my understanding that all future smart watches moving ahead with be led under Google's umbrella.

New glasses, Mr. Fisher? Either way, they look good! I'm hoping Google comes out with a Google Pixel Watch this year and that it's above and beyond what we have right now. Apple Watch is just doing a much better job right now, but the Qualcomm chips are holding WearOS back.

Is the battery life with or without always-on-display? I consider switching from my Huawei Watch (first Gen) to this one, and I don't want the Fossil to have significantly worse battery life.

Always-on display was enabled for this review. That's one of the key things 3100 is meant to enhance and IMO every watch should be able to display the time at all times.

I bought a Fitbit Charge 3 recently. Returned it after 3 days. It counted 5000 steps as I slept. And I'm not alone. I found a thread with hundreds of people having the same issues.

I would say from the design stand point I like this watch only after 360 sport minus the flat tire. It does everything a smartwatch suppose to do and at the right price point. I can do Android pay it is good with Google Fit for tracking gym, step, calorie etc. It is light so it isn't heavy on the wrist and for my purpose tracks my gym workout enough to give me a good idea of calorie burn +/-. I've compared it to friends wearing Fit bit/Gear for the same workout and it is pretty close. While yes it won't be as accurate as a Polar for instance but than I would get a Polar. It is probably one of the better choices for AndroidWear on the market at the moment.

Bought it for $99 Canadian on sale, which is about $75 US dollars. It is a solid smart watch with beautifully crisp screen. It has all the bells and whistles. I have to charge it daily though. I'm very happy overall.

A year on, I bought this watch for £99. WearOS is way better now, and I've had none of the issues really, barring a little bit of slowness at the start. I have the 43mm version, and I love it.
