Don’t piece out the singer button holder. It will bring the most as a whole kit
@roadrunnercrazy

The buttonholer has all its pieces plus a couple extras. The template in the little box was not the very desirable eyelet template but look at the rest of them in case it's in there. Do NOT part out the buttonholer! You want to sell it as complete to get the best value out of it. If it has the eyelet template you can sell that separately. I am speaking as someone who both uses antique and vintage sewing machines and who sells buttonholers and other sewing machine accessories on a regular basis.

The “torture device” is indeed a torture device! Well, it was to me as a kid!! 😂 It’s missing the handle and discs for it but its a grater. Growing up my mom would buy huge bags of walnuts in burlap bags and we had to sit in the garage on the concrete floor with hammers (imagine 3 kids, 6-9 years old with hammers….) and crack them all and get the walnuts separated from the shells. Then we had to use the grater and grate them all by hand so my mom could use them in baking. My hands would cramp pressing down on the lid to keep pressure on the walnuts and then you used your other hand to turn the handle in circles which turned the grating disc. I’m now 62 years old and still hate walnuts because of that.

But then she actually enjoyed washing cloth diapers and ironing everything. 😂

You'll be able to identify the age of the buttonholer by the case. My mom had one from the early 1950s. It was l black, in a thin cardboard box. I know because it was my job to fit all the parts back into that dang 3x5 in box when she finished using it. I would put the one you found as 1970s. After zigzag machines there was no need for buttonholers unless you were sewing heavy fabrics.

I bought one of these at a church rummage sale 59 years ago. Paid 10 cents for it. Used it till a leg broke off. I then bought a plastic one, still use it. The handle (crank ) had a red wooden knob, was “L” shaped. It and the disks might be somewhere close.

I'm not certain why others are commenting that the buttonholer is valuable because they are quite common. Singer produced hundreds of thousands of them, some in green cases, some in pink. Don't get me wrong, it's a great buttonhole maker and it looks like you have a complete set. If you have the eyelet template sell it on its own, it didn't come with the set originally. Idk, maybe it depends where you live but these are in every thrift shop and at every estate sale here in California. I guarantee you will find at least 1 on eBay for less than you paid. Be on the lookout for sewing accessories made by Bernina, they are always worth $$$!

Jocelyn, the goblet at 7:20 is the perfect candidate (style wise) to flip upside down and place a candle atop it, letting it be the focal point in the center of a dining table or on a smaller round table. I love improvising with ways of displaying, to make a single of a would-be set work. Did a quick search on those vintage mugs for a buck fifty, and they are being sold for ten bucks each, plus shipping, all day long. Fun spread and cases. Thank goodness for sniff tests (laughing to myself).

Too funny. I'm 74 now & using paper plates but I also (like your mom) started out w/Corelle (I remember some design in gold) & upgraded to Pfaltzgraft (April). I wanted Mikasa, they had some beautiful designs. I inherited my mom's "good" set (that was only used on holidays & had a gold rim) & used that until my kids had their own families & didn't wanna wash dishes by hand at my home. I'm still washing dishes, it's th pots & pans I hate. Love how your travels are reminiscent of my younger days. It's killing me that my mom & I gave all that "vintage mid-century" stuff away...to Goodwill. Keep up th good finds. Can't wait to see your house done completely to your satisfaction. B sure to announce th big reveal.

The beautiful dishes, you should have gotten. why? because you work so hard and deserve them, you could get them out for company, special occasions, everyday if you want, take it from a oldie, I let my Grandmothers china sit in a cabinet and I should have enjoyed it. Over the years a few pieces broke but it doesnt matter most 20 somethings and 30 somethings like my children dont want them handed down they want the new stuff. Love the end of video. Andrew ,shhhhhh, baby Laurel sleeping and Juliette eating fortune cookies. lol. Enjoy the little things like this they are the best things.

After cat pics, you just have to do the sniff test on everything before the car trip home. I like the colors in the quilt and sham cases.
