Stoked we found a truck 25 feet underwater in the river while diving in Portland. Also found a VW Bug 36' underwater. Can you spot it?

We never know what our next river treasure hunting adventure is going to find, especially when we go scuba diving underwater in the lakes, rivers, and waterfalls here in Oregon.
On this episode of Adventures with Purpose we head to Portland, Oregon for a few days of scuba diving in the Willamette River for a change of scenery in our underwater treasure hunting adventures.
We're also super excited to be testing out our new diving camera from PARALENZ.
We found a truck in the river... FINALLY!!
Also found a VW Bug in the river that has completely rusted out.
But totally excited about the Old Mill Sawblade found 20' underwater along with all of the vintage bottles.
We have personally pulled 4000+ pounds of garbage out of the lakes and rivers this year. ... 〽️🙌🏼
At the end of the day, we feel amazing about our efforts with all the garbage we remove from the lakes and rivers in our attempt to help save the planet, the fish, and the animals. 🐟

Sadly the Willamette river has been a dumping ground for untreated industrial waste, toxics, raw sewage, and runoff from cities and farms for decades if not century's. Especially in the Portland area...If you had a crew and a ship hauling up debris from the river you would never get done in a lifetime. A 1927 City Club of Portland report labeled the waterway "filthy and ugly", and identified the City of Portland as the worst offender! Shortly after he was elected in 1966, Governor Tom McCall ordered water quality tests on the Willamette, conducted his own research on the water quality, and became head of the Oregon State Sanitary Authority. McCall learned that the river was heavily polluted in Portland. In a television documentary, Pollution in Paradise, he said that "the Willamette River was actually cleaner when the Oregon Sanitary Authority was created in 1938 than it was in 1962."[73] He then discouraged tourism in the state and made it harder for companies to qualify for a permit to operate near the river. He also regulated how much those companies could pollute and closed plants that did not meet state pollution standards.[138][139] The Clean Water Act was passed in 1972 to restore and maintain the integrity of the nation's waters.Oct 17, 2017 Thanks Jared for going above and beyond in helping clean up our lakes and rivers!!! Love your comment and information provided Craig. Thanks for sharing. What I've learned from it though is that I'll make sure not to drink the waters. I also became even more excited after reading your post about all the possible treasures I'll find in the rivers. Those hidden dumping grounds are what I'm really after. If you happen to have any hot leads with coordinates on those, do let me know privately so that I can track those down. Need a slush fund to make it back up and need somebody with a good boat who can hang out and help me out in this adventure for a dive or two... or 30. 😉

@@AdventuresWithPurpose Could have been that person with a "good boat". I'm a boat captain of thirty years! My kids grew up boating on Detroit lake, Foster Lake, Tillamook bay and the Willamette river... Kids, Now adults, Sadly weren't interested in going boating any more... Sold the boat 10/1/16 and bought a paramotor, wing and all the accessories. That saw blade is a nice piece! Will look good in the yard! consider cementing or chaining it or it will disappear! As far as dumping grounds and treasures go I suspect the majority of contents in the river are industrial related. Mixed with everything from A-Z :-)

The bottle you found that said law forbids sale or reuse of this bottle is dated from the 30's 40's used for liqueur. That is what they had to put on them back then. Love your videos.

i recently found your page so been binge watching all the episodes over the years with all the cool stuff you find. i would get put sides on a landscape trailer so you can haul all the stuff. Taking the metal to a recycler could help with your expenses like gasoline and getting your tanks refilled. Just a idea. Keep up the great job.

One day as a boy I was walking with my family on the coast of Lake Erie and we found part of a car grille on the shore. It still had an emblem reading “Chevrolet” on the front of it, which was really neat. I still have it hanging on the wall in my room. Makes me wonder where the rest of the car is.

LOL... it could be a urinal. Good thing it's been washed for the past 50+ years before I touched it. Love this location. I'd like to hit it again.

the little sink is an ice cream scoop warmer usually find them in ice cream shops, they put warm water through it while the scoops are in ti plus it cleans the scoops, with the warm water it makes the ice cream easier to scoop

That truck is worth some money! Even the parts are! Looks 40s to early 50s by the frame. Btw that steering wheel is off of a late 60s ford F100.

The sink thing looks like what they used to use to wash your eyes out with when you got something in them. At least that what it reminds me of. Binge watching again. The cardboard boat episode was hilarious.

Steering wheel is definitely from a ford truck. Late 60s to early 70s I believe. The saw blade is definitely very old and very cool. My family is big into logging and they have saws like that as yard art or painted with murals on them.

Man there is a crap load of stuff/treasure in that river. I seen all the stuff u had to skip ovr due to size and weight. And I do believe that was a hydraulic cylinder u found and moved. Thx for all u do for the families and mother nature herself. I'm from iowa and we have a river that is just like that, but I'm sure worse. Be safe and have fun.

the sink / urinal thing you guys keep talking about is actually a water reservoir that goes on a Volkswagen! it will collect run off water from the windshield and let it run out by the tire instead of just running into you trunk space!

You can tell the age of the bottles by the numbers on the bottom, I do believe. I have some antique bottles that has the same warnings on them. They are antiques and you should have no trouble selling them. I really enjoy your videos 😁😁

At first, I was thinking prohibition days, but according to the writings on the bottles, puts them at 1935-1962 which was after. Love the finds and the location. Have to return for sure.

The bottles with the recessed bottom are old wine bottles that were actually blown and made by hand. The bottom was pushed in to make sure the bottle would stand up right and had no sharp ends.

Bottle is at least older than 1963. After that date, liquor bottles no longer had "Federal Law" inscripted

Egads, the garbage! And cool treasure!!! Well, you one upped me. Or would that be two upped me. Not once have I found a single vehicle in Lake Superior or the surrounding lakes and quarries that I've been to. I'm secretly glad though. Sorry you have so much pollution there. You know if all the people whom disappeared without a trace would just call home just once or write a letter just once or send a message someway to family to say "hey I'm alive and well". Those families might get closure and some wouldn't have to be still searching for some that they will never find any other way. For those who meet with an unfortunate situation we hope that they are found by anyone willing to help in any way possible so that the family can move on in life and rest their loved one in peace or possibly find a happier ending to their search..

1935-1962 is the date of the bottle. I’ve not looked any further into it yet. Some liquor law back then is why it was illegal. No Griffin as this was midweek and he was off playing lawyer at his regular job.

I can only guess the bottles were from a time when they were proprietary and owned by a business, like maybe a soda fountain, milk man, or pharmacist. When you bought your soda, they "lent" (or charged a fee) you the bottle and you would return it when you were done for your fee return. So selling it would be illegal since it wasn't technically yours. In the case of a milk bottles, since they were technically government property, that would make it a federal offense. That or I'm completely full of BS, it's hard to tell these days I've gotten so good at it. Bet they're worth quite a bit of money though either way.
