Bill Watterson...one of my favorite cartoonists. He drew Calvin and Hobbes. Wonderful humor in his comics. Just bought my journal like this small one and am ready to start swatching. My love of fountain pens and inks has been growing and so now's the time to set up a journal...while my ink collection is still manageable! Love what you've done with yours.

That first nib is a size 6 ; second one is a 5. The five works better if you don’t push it in so far. Love your splotch idea as a swatch. I also add sample strips of the paper types that I use the ink on too in my ink journal. This lets me see how the paint works on other papers. Examples: linen, hp paper, parchment, vellum, etc. I shifted to a flip book so I can remove and sort colors or brands as I add to my bunch. Swatch reference journals are a huge plus. I also add when I bought the ink and a note how it worked in given other pens as I go along. Notes on wetness, speed of drying are good to know. After a year I return and do a time test to see how the ink holds over time. Did a series of multi-year boxes for this. Having an acid free paper journal is a plus. I love the idea of ink art and humorous quotes in your ink journal! I've been playing with the idea of making an ink journal for quite a time, but all I could imagine was a notebook filled with cotton swap lines and 'The quick brown fox..' in various ink, and it was not very appealing. 😂 Your video gave me some new inspiration, thanks for sharing!

I made my own ink journal form, with bits and pieces taken from other forms, and add an ink syringe spray in one spot. But I really like the varying look you have here, not adding your swab line and the rest until your ink splatter is complete. Lovely.

Love what you came up with for your ink journal. And the pens you're using are great. I've seen a lot of dip pen samples that, to me, don't give a true picture of what the ink looks like in a fountain pen, but these really seem to do that. I love alt goldgün, too. Now I think I want some of that blue-nosed bear. Love the shading! I find Lexington Grey too pale in my preferred fine nibs. Maybe I got a bad bottle, too, as it's watery and bleeds through just about everything. 😢 Thanks for this.
