This is a long one song grab a cup! ☕
You wanted to know what's in my pen cases so here they are 😊
I did my best to demonstrate and tell you a bit about every one of my fountain pens.
The writing samples start at around 19 minutes so feel free to FFW if you're interested in that alone 😊
I truly enjoy using fountain pens for all my writing and I wish I could share that love with you in an awesome, hi resolution, smooth zoom and all that jazz video but I'm honestly such a newbie at filming all that stuff 😅
So this will have to do for now or at least until some new pen update 😊 ❤️
Thanks for stopping by 🤗

This was exactly what I needed to see! Our tastes are quite similar! I fell in love with the Robert Oster Rose Gold Antiqua ink. It is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I have another couple of colors I love, including Taccia Ebi Purple-Red which is a bit darker with no shimmer, but loads of gorgeous shading. I also love and Taccia Tuchi Golden Wheat, which is a lovely muted golden brown. But the Rose Gold Antiqua is softer and more muted - and is absolutely perfect for a signature color. I ordered it right after watching your video. It came in today and I’m over the moon! Thank you so much! And please do keep us updated. I truly enjoy catching your videos. Take care! 💗🦋💗

I believe you can order extra nib for your troubled Kaweco. It will come with nib and feeds and you just need to make you purchase the gold version of nib. The replacement parts will be installed inside the plastic green body of your pen.

Wonderful reviews and great video. And may i say, i was amazed by how clean and lovely your hands look- most all of my fountain pen and ink circle, always have one or more ink stains, blots, bobbles, dot or streaks on at least one hand! :o) Good job.

I had the same issue you had with your green kaweco. A very scratchy nib. I also tried washing it and everything. It actually got softer after a year that I pushed myself to use it. It finally got softer with use.

You can replace Kaweco nibs for the Sport! I had to replace one on one of my husband's pens that was simply not writing properly. It is the nib, feed and housing that are sold as one piece without the grip. The black plastic feed and feed housing part that is inside the grip section is friction fit and can be pulled out (carefully, using a cushioned grip - I made mine out of a bit of old yoga mat that I cut up).

I am so glad someone else has had the same issues with their Lamy Safari Savannah in particular. I have a fine that writes like a very wet medium or even a broad. I wanted to sell it for quite a while, but I forced myself to keep it, and even ordered an EF replacement nib, and when it arrived it write like a wet fine too. Their nibs are definitely different.

Yup! I would say it's not really any issues but just the way most European nibs are. I've learned to quite enjoy this nib size and I use a nice, shading or dual toned ink in my Lamy, because it shows of the effects 😊 but the pen still feels too plastic and light for my taste 🙈 but I have a use for it and it writes without any issues or being fussy so there's that 😊

I agree about the Lamy plastic feel but these hold up much better, in my experience than the plastic Kaweco’s. I’ve had my bright yellow Lamy for about 7 years and my only issue is that the body tends to stay a tad smudged with ink even after a good clean up. My plastic Kaweco pencil split where it takes the pressure of use, it’s stupid. It’s still usable, but I’d never get a plastic form of their goods again. It was enough to make me question their overall quality. I took a chance on them again with a second hand Aluminum sport and it’s now one of my faves.

Kaweco nibs can be really inconsistent. I had the scratchy issue with another Kaweco Classic Sport in green - I used 12000 grit micromesh to smooth the nib out by making figure 8's on the micromesh and it smoothed out after a couple minutes. Go slow and test it out every few rotations.

I've heard that if you've got a nib you want to soften a bit that you can run them dry over a paper bag until they start to smooth out. I wouldn't know, though, I like nibs that shout when you write with them. :] I wish you the best of luck on getting that fixed up. 🙏 That problem child's such a nice color, it deserves to be used.

I might be late but with the kaweco nibs you can buy then and pull the nib and feeds from the housing to swap them, but this will void warrantee, equally if you didn't buy the pen too long ago you could contact where you bought it or kaweco themselves

Have you checked out Goulet Pens KZfaq on how to floss tines and smooth nibs and then check amazon (if available in your country) for a replacement nib, not the unit, just the nib, you can pull it out, it's friction fit and you then can simply swap the nib. But I would still recommend trying to work on the nib since it's so cheap and it's easily replaceable.
2 жыл бұрын
I already swapped it, I was impatient and it was cheaper to get a replacement than to invest in materials and times to learn how to fix it 😅 Now I'm happy with my olive kaweco and it writes so well! 😃 ❤️ Thank you for the tips! Exchanging nibs in the kaweco is really easy peasy 😊

Hi Petra, I have just purchased a gold nib for one of my Kaweco sport pens from Bookbinders Design and was able to change it over easily as it has an inner housing that fits easily into the pen without changing the colour of the top piece. Perhaps it will work on your Kaweco Sport olive. The nib does come with a black outer housing which comes off. Can explain more if you need me too. My olive Kaweco Sport writes beautifully with an EF nib. Good luck. Loved your video. I have been wanting a Sailor pen for ages but read that sometimes the pen plastic cracks near the nib. Has this happpened to you?
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rosamond 😊 yes, I already changed the nib in my Kaweco, exactly the way you described it 😊 regarding Sailor, I have 2, I don't really baby them, they are not in separate cases or anything extra protective and I had no issues so far. But I don't have them for so long. We'll see what happens! 😊

Your Lamy Safari fountain pen is matte, so it doesn't shine like the kaweco. It is made with ABS plastic, I think like the one in legos. Still, it has its beauty. I think you can find the nib for your green kaweco on amazon. At the time of writing this I saw one on amazon in the US.

How would you describe the enjoyment of a feedbacky Sailor nib compared to a smooth nib like the TWSBI/Pelikan/Lamy? Do you like one experience more than the other, or do you prefer them for different purposes? I like smooth pens, but the Sailors are so beautiful that I want to own one and enjoy them too (especially if it is an investment in the 21K Pro Gear Slim, so expensive but so beautiful). Do you recommend them? Thank you! This video was amazing

I'm not the best qualified to answer, but just in case no other responses are forthcoming... Short answer: Sailors are great, if they appeal they're worth trying. The larger nibs (M and up) will probably feel more familiar and smooth, finer nibs will tend to give more of the typical experience everyone describes. Either way, they're regarded as some of the best writers you can get for good reason, but that doesn't mean they're right for every hand, style, and experience level. They're not difficult to use, but they can have a *very slight* learning curve, whereas most fountain pens really have none at all. These generalizations should refer to the steel ProColor nib and up, not the cheapest steel nibs which I don't think have the same character. I think the enjoyment of a smooth nib is pretty self-evident: the flowing smoothness is itself a tactile pleasure. The enjoyment of a Sailor's feedback is more the sensation of control and precision; it feels a little more planted and maybe less wiggly. I'd say the usual description of Sailor nibs is pretty accurate: Not scratchy, but they tend to have more of a dry smoothness like a pencil rather than a wet smoothness like floating over the surface, especially on the finer end. If you imagine putting olive oil on the fingertips of one hand and dry corn starch on the other, both will feel smooth when you rub your fingers together, but that difference is perhaps a little similar to the difference between Sailor feedback and a more typically smooth nib, though an exaggeration of it. It's also a difference you can sometimes hear: most nibs quietly hum across the page, but a fast moving Sailor can be a little louder and makes more of a high pitched whoosh or zzzip, at least when used with some pressure on certain papers. I'm not sure if one style is better than another for different purposes, it's just a matter of user preference. I think Sailor nibs feel more controlled, and they tend to make my writing look more precise, but they're a little more demanding of proper form and light pressure. One of the biggest advantages of typical/smoother nibs is accessibility: pretty much anyone can write with a fine from Pilot or Lamy, even if they hold it like a ballpoint and use too much pressure, and the experience will be satisfactory. When people complain about Sailor nibs being scratchy, it's often because they have undeveloped form from using regular pens, hold it at too high an angle, finger-write instead of using arm movements so the contact angle is constantly changing, and just use too much pressure. If you write with basically decent fountain form, Sailors can provide a wonderful writing experience, though I've also seen them enjoyed by people who hold them like crayons, which always surprises me.

For Kaweco Sport, they are friction fit nibs. Just buy a Kaweco nib unit and then pull out the nib and swap. For some extra fun, look for a Kaweco Premium nib. They are kinda pricey, but I've heard good things about it.
