Love Ron's shoutout to Mr. Smith Goes To Washington. It's just as powerful a film today as it was in 1939. A Frank Capra/Jimmy Stewart masterpiece. Highly recommend it.

My 4 favorites directed only by Ron Howard are: 1. "WILLOW" with fabulous Val Kilmer 2. "RANSOM" with Mel Gibson (stunning cinematography by great late Piotr Sobocinski) 3. "RUSH" with Daniel Bruhl & Chris Hemsworth 4. "A beautiful mind"

@@coinraker6497 Somehow I simply don't recognize this particular one as a Ron Howard film. But I'm a great admirer of "IN THE HEART OF THE SEA". Also flop. But it was made with a tremendous respect to story of Moby Dick. Excellent film. Brutaly authentic. Recently "THIRTEEN LIVES" surprised me! Also very truthful, very natural, almost documentary. Great performances by Viggo Mortensen and Colin Farrell.

I love all these choices! I’ve seen Mr. Smith goes to Washington at least 10 times. Stewart is one of my all-time favorite actors. He reads the line like nobody else he didn’t go from beginning to end he chews on it in the middle.

The thing about Ron Howard is that he comes off as a person-by which I mean that interviews with celebrities invariably end up being of Hollywood people. It changes them, not in a bad way necessarily, though certainly there is a lot of bad. Ron Howard comes off as if you’re hearing him talk about these movies while you’re sitting in a diner somewhere. The much disappearing "regular guy" - rare in the famous, but now that celebrity is common currency, just being a low key cool isn’t what it once was. I’m glad he still has it after being in Hollywood his entire life.

Here's what I've come to adore about Ron Howard. He's a very competent, good filmmaker. But not a "great" director. And yet, his passion for film and the way he talks about movies is so connecting and genuine, that you cannot help but fall in love with the guy.

Howard gets 5! He picked two of my favorites Raiders and Mad Max 2 the Road Warrior which is Criminally underrated and has All REAL Stunts! I think Gibson said he did 70% of his own stunts which scared the shit out of studio because they thought he was going to Die and put insurance on him without his knowledge! 🙄 So if he did croak they could recoup some of the cost of the Film! 🤦‍♂️😎

I'd have a hard time picking 10, much less 4. None of his would be in my Top 4 (or even 10) except maybe Mad Max, but those 5 are all good to watch. Since he's been a director for so long I was surprised he didn't include something by Alfred Hitchcock in there (Rear Window, Psycho, or Vertigo would be my choices).
