- Trusting and not trusting first impressions are both important approaches to recognizing potential. - Initiatives and a hunger for improvement are signs of high-potential individuals. - Passion and drive are crucial indicators of potential greatness. - Giving individuals more responsibility and authority can reveal their leadership potential.

The material is great and I’d like to dig in deeper. When you mention podcast no. 27 I cannot find it. It is not numbered😀 and I get confused.

What if someone gives you generic feedback. You don't understand what it means, so you ask for specifics and there is silence? Should we assume as if nothing is said? Then the same person or if that is your boss will tell you after a year what needs to change.. that to in vague language.. feedback works only if it is given when something wrong happens, because we know situation, and action at that time... If instead it is given after a year, we don't know a link at all and if it is in generic vague language then forget any improvement... Then same people will curse you for not learning and growing... They expect probably you to read their mind because they are not capable enough to communicate properly. One or two liner feedback doesn't work. Leaders need to concise in speech but if this principle is used in wrong place at wrong time doesn't produce any result... Some people focus on form than substance...

Handshake is unconscious bias! I've had senior managers bring people in on first impressions - 95% have failed. Why? My boss brings in friends and people he wants as friends, first impressions, but we're in a high stress competitive profession. You need to base it on work/proven track record. Even proven track record not relevant to the role - for me, I like community/volunteering work, especially if it's consistent. It shows me thier values & indicates to me their trustworthiness.
