53 here I spent most of my career working night shift. The work we did prevented bad things from happening during the day. Socially and recreationally, myself and countless others have enjoyed plenty of uneventful activities. If you pay attention to any news report, it’s often that something bad has happened “in broad daylight” Bad things can happen anywhere to anyone at any time. That “nothing good happens after midnight” is an ignorant statement that benefits no one during this crisis.

We had a case in Kentucky where the man got out of prison and he was live streaming going to his ex's apartment. He was planning on killing her and his kids. Her new boyfriend was there and he helped them escape the apartment. He was left in the apartment shooting at the cops and he set fire to the place and it spread to the other apartments and five families were homeless. Then people were on social media claiming it was all her fault and that he was a great loving father.

But there is an improvement need for distinguishing different types of shootings and motives behind them. This umbrella definition does more harm than good. It's often political and used in reference for "gun control". It also takes the focus on true "common sense" methods of preventing such occurrences. This is what's sited when they say things like "There have been 636 (I use that number for illustration only) mass shootings already this year." When in reality the number is less than 10. They lump them all together. It's political manipulation.
