We have done it a couple of times before and they raised over $5K one time. It is one of the community building efforts that we like to do, the romance of being a village potter.

Your glaze work is exceptional, especially the different color combinations. I’ll have to look through your video’s for the application instructions. Love watching your kiln openings!

"When" I was a professional potter, (ie earned a living) I had 1small Skutt electric kiln, two gas and a pit kiln. My pit was for my exhibition work and the rest was to pay the bills. I loved that time, but my parents needed help and my husband had cancer . This is something that happens in life, I sold up and went into the retirement village where my parents lived. The village does have a pottery studio but it soon came down to be me teaching and not getting my own work done and today it is the same as I am asked what to do. I now tend to go on my own just to have peace and quiet and try to get some work out. Anyone else in this situation??

That must have been tough times for you. Life does seem to get in the way sometimes. Jackie took care of both her parents, fortunately for them the cancers were quick. Still it consumed 3 years of her life. Sorry to hear you are going through it now. I hope you have a place to take long walks in the country or a park near by, nature has a refreshing healing quality. Take care of yourself.

im in art school my hands cant handle clay. i admire those that can im a fiber artist and painter their use of colour is fun and always interesting. i do have a suggestion limit your teaching time, go slowly and feed your artist. and i probably overstepped. good luck.

@@Vsmithpots Yes it was a tough time, apart from my parents needs, I just wanted to be in my studio making pots with my dog by my side. But as everyone knows there are times when you have to look after the parents. I sold everything and resigned to fact that I would not be able to pot. We came to the village in 2023 and dad passed in 2005 and my husband died in 2026. Mum encouraged me to join the village "pottery". I did and became the President and teacher and I am still with pottery 21 years later. I am still looking to further my knowledge and I will experiment at our communal studio. I still wish that I could just be alone to do my own thing without folk watching what I do and then copy. (not very well I might add)

im surprised that there are not more comments. i liked the big bowel at the start the colours are western but i wont hold it against it. thats great that you help your local fire department.

If I cannot add a complimentary comment, I scroll on. I do like Vaughn's video but I only watch those videos that I am interested in. And I would prefer to say nothing if I cannot praise all of the pots. Also whether I like or not I do not have to pass comment an everything🥰🥰😇.
