My thoughts: Very interesting selection this week and in all honesty they are all excellent ports, however I'd say the Mega Drive just edges it over the PC Engine, mainly because it has a larger play area, I think the PCE is far too zoomed in. I don't even want to say a worst version this week, because as a handheld port the Game Boy version is superb and one of the best shoot 'em ups on the system and the Master System conversion is really pushing the limits of the hardware. Very good all-round really, will be interesting to see what others think!

Thanks for the video. 20 plus years ago, I got a CIB copy of Genesis Sagaia as a throw in on an eBay lot with my Nomad, a model 1 Genesis, power base converter, a bunch of other good games like Shinobi 3, controllers, etc, for some ridiculous amount in hindsight, like under $100. I miss those days. Master System stuff was practically free

I agree that they're all decent ports. While the the PCE version does look and, especially, sound better, the zoomed in perspective does make it a bit more difficult over the Genny port.

I haven't heard of the Game Boy version so far! As for the PC Engine CD, I haven't been familiar with this version as much as others on the console without the add-on. Sagaia/Darius II was one of my favorite shooters both on the SMS and SMD in my teens... So I have a level of intimacy to judge. It would be simpler to rival the GB vs SMS, as 8-bit systems, and PCE-CD vs SMD, as 16-bit system (despite the controversy on the PCE). I'd choose both the Sega systems anytime. However, in the case of a game like that, Sagaia, in which there's no bad adaptation in every console, the gamer is the real winner here. Anyway, my favorite is still the Mega Drive version, because of its gameplay and overall design, despite loving the Master System version because of its music, beautiful even on PCM chip. Of course and it's undeniable that the PC Engine CD has the best music due to its medium, made with real instruments, but loses me in the interaction with the sound FX... And I don't understand why zooming in a screen like that for this game. And the Game Boy has a very respectable version, even without a great pallette of colors!

One of the best looking games on the Master System. For a moment, you wonder if the Genesis was really necessary.

My impression of the Genesis version... From that subterranean level shown, compared to the PC engine... That Genesis version looks suspiciously like an early 2 or 4mb cartridge for the Genesis. Blocky... Walls. And the music... Not the best the Yamaha FM card ever did, putting it nicely.
