It is so funny to me on the first clip, aabria as a player she knew this might be the game-changing move, but at the same time as a fellow DM she knew she just fcked up Brennan's whole campaigns and she knew that must felt horrendous, cause now Brennan need to rewrite the story 🤣

@@envymordecai4429 the big bad came out of absolutely nowhere, out of stealth, and backstabbed Aabria's character, the party leader. She did enough damage to insta-down her, while I think the rest of the party was nowhere close to her. Aabria was desperately trying to think of what to do, and then was like 'wait...I have the Alert feat. I can't be surprised.'

I know the clip is ancient but I see people talk about Ally's ask to be alive as if it were some ramdom unsubstantiated hail mary, but it does have a basis in the rules. What Ally was actualy asking was "can I roll my last death save even though I already succeeded?" First to three is the same as best of five. Ally rolled well on their first death saves so they didn't want to be cheated by stopping at only three rolls for a potential 20, so they were asking if they could keep rolling one more death save since one more failure wouldn't matter, but a nat 20 would.

A hostile rogue snuck up on her and downed her, but thanks to the alert feat that had to be walked back because the rogue couldn't actually roll with advantage and so couldn't add the sneak attack damage

For once, I disagree with Brennan. The goal in golf isn’t just to hit the ball furthest. The goal in blackjack isn’t to make the highest number. Brennan didn’t try to have the HIGHEST heart rate in another game, he tried to win. In the game he was given, trying hard and doing your best is finishing in the middle.
