So the Comp R is basically the Fox 180 boot, and the normal Comp is basically just a newer Comp 3 or 5?

This is obviously what used to be called the 180. Aside from the additional colorways, is there any difference between the previous 180 and the Comp R?

Maybe the R = Refurbished. lol Too many of my friends wasted money on FOX Boots which were all destroyed with light riding in less than 1 month. Say NO to FOX.

Ronan U yes, they are basically the same. Fox rebranded them as the Comp R.

The Fox Comp boots do not have a replaceable sole.

How do the toe boxes feel with the controls? I find my comp 8s a bit bulky and not super great for feeling the brake and shift lever very well. Wondering if these are any different

Hi, Kris. The Comp R isn't the best or the worst in that aspect. I'm very particular about peg feel and the Comp R is decent. They also are a little stiff due to not having a hinge on the medial side. If it were me and depending on your budget, I'd step up to a Fox Instinct, Tech 7, or Tech 10. The Instinct gives the best feel of any boot on the market. -Chase

About he heel float. I am wondering, when walking, does the boot restrict your mobility to walk properly, or do you end up walking like your wearing snowboard boots?

You walk pretty fine actually! Less on the snowboard boot walk. I know whatcha mean. They fit awesome. I broke both my ankles multiple times and they are awesome with ankle support

Yes, they will work with the C Frame (how big are your calves?) and I would go with an 11. - Chase

The only waterproof MX boot is the Alpinestars Enduro Drystar. Everything else will be water resistant.

I know several riders that have these and none of them have had any issues with the silicone strap. Just don't let it sit out in the sun all day when you're not riding. - Chase

I’d really like to see the Velcro at the top of the boot. I feel like that silicon strap is definitely a weak part of the design and If that straps breaks mid race or post crash your boot will be flopping all over the place. Just my opinion, hopefully I’m wrong but time will tell.

i hove the comp and the comp r i like the comp more tha only thang thet is the real diferins is the hiper esinding thing so buy a ancl bras and now you have the comp r and personly i like the look of the comp but i have bolth and thay are bolth grate boots

Cons: Pretty stiff initially, toe box is a little tall, buckles are plastic. Pros: Very comfortable, good ankle support, grippy sole, price. Let us know if you have other questions. -Chase

Hey Rocky Mountain is there any difference at all between the comp R boot and the 180 boot? Trying to make a purchase and if they are the same exact boot with a different name I might as well just get the 180 on clearance

Yes, the 180 is the same as the comp R. The only difference is the comp R has a longer lower strap.
