I don't understand how they let them off with such a generous settlement after having their figurative balls in a vise-grip. If they needed a quick hit of cash they could've just bilked it from one of the other 100% guilty people & companies named in the lawsuit. They need to put out a press release or something, I want to know why they'd willingly hurt their own reputation among the people who had their back.

This is the guy who worked at Gitmo, and whose job it was to gain the trust of detainees in order to learn what the most effective methods of torture would be, and then he would watch and laugh as those methods were employed, according to multiple eyewitnesses from among the detainees and other staff. He's an actual demon, the Disney stuff is pretty on brand.

I was watching an old Darkwing Duck cartoon recently & they put up a disclaimer about stereotypical depictions which I thought was pretty cool because while I remember watching this cartoon with my kids in the 90s I’m glad they’re recognizing that some things are just not right. It’s just sad that people think the way they do. If they were on the receiving end of the hate & intolerance they spew they’d think differently I’m sure.

They don't have to acknowledge it. A judge already declared that they obviously did, and this trial wasn't even about that. They can't claim they told the truth - all they can claim is that the malicious intent of it was never adjudicated.

Does anyone else feel cheated by the Fox v. Dominion case, as if letting money hungry lawyers make the settlement was the most efficient way to guarantee that nothing changed? "Punishable by fine" is just an underhanded way to say "legal for a price", and our legal system just keeps ignoring this paradox.

I really wish the Dominion vs. Fox suite had gone to court. Having to give testimony and face all the texts and memos about how they knew it was garbage should be solidly out there for the public. Fox “News” is legally classified as “entertainment,” meaning its hosts can lie with impunity. Dominion and Smartmatic are successfully suing them because they were singled out and mentioned by name. If Fox had chosen to lie about election fraud without mentioning any particular election machines or the companies that produce them, they would have gotten away with it.

And all his next opponent has to do is say they'll give Disney back it's rights. He'll be a shoe-in. Everyone knows just how much money Disney brings in. Well, except Desantis. His ratings sank so low I think he's currently at about 24% of ppl would vote for him for president. vs. trump at 53% of republicans. Trump kills everything he touches. Can you imagine central Florida without Disney World? I remember what the world looked like during lockdown, because I was direct front line staff, it was like a post apocalypse dystopia. I remember being really overwhelmed with what I was seeing at work and thinking "they're all ok, they are just at home making dinner right now" as I drove alone on the roads. It would be like that. but probably with food riots.

It all comes down to money in the end. If you refuse to settle and insist on going to trial you have to be sure your case is cast-iron. The only people who ever win are the lawyers, and it isn't unknown for people to win a court case and still have only token damages awarded, or even to have to bear their own costs. Murdoch has deep pockets and he's a nasty reputation as a street-fighter, so maybe this was the best outcome for the plaintiffs, if not for democracy. Frankly the sooner Murdoch drops off the twig, the safer the world will be.

(A hold once someone is trapped in; is at the mercy of the one trapping them in it decides to free them from it!
