This is what happens behind the scenes at a Fox Sports A League Outside Broadcast. Listen with Headphones - Left Ear is what goes to air, Right Ear is the Director's Talk back. What went to air in bottom left. Enjoy!

I like how he can still react to the goals while at work!

A real great job. This is a work of art. Every body knows his job very good. The director is a Maestro.

Fantastic video. Quick question. "You can cue them out when you're ready" and "cue the game" - are you guys responsible for getting the players/officials out of the tunnel? I always thought crews just reacted when teams came out (whatever sport it is). I guess its so it all looks ok on the broadcast, presumably they work around you.

+Mark Pentler thanks Mark - yeah cueing the game is pretty much the only control we have. Most of the time we run to exact timings though.

I have a question, how do tv stations or the people that play ads on tv know when to cut to ads. Does the production team at the event tell them or do they just watch and press play at the right time? thanks

Lewis Treloar The production team cues the presentation operator to play the commercial breaks. They usually give them a 5 second count. The different presentation operators around the world can hear the count and all time the commercials to the same duration.

Paul Slater incidentally some stations who can’t arrange a proper feed will do this without 4wire or anything like that from the production end. Which I’m sure is an absolute barrel of laughs for playout to handle.

Hey mate, I'm guessing you're the Director for Global TV's OB. I work on the sideline LED screens at Parramatta stadium and love seeing HD1 parked outside. Do you reckon there are any job openings at Global for TD's or others?
@paul_slater8 жыл бұрын
+Afif Ahmad hi Mate - we use both NEP (Global) and Gearhouse for our outside broadcasts... They have a mostly freelance workforce.. You can email them your CV if you like.

Also what does NAC/NAK stand for? Seems to be referring to your ultra-slow mo?
@@obergruppenfuhrer9696 depends on budget. Some MLB telecasts have none, a recent baseball series I worked we had four Grass Valley high speed cams. BTW, at least in the US NAC’s have been replaced by either Sony or Grass Valley high frame rate cameras.
