Jack Kowalski took the stand again in the Kowalski v. Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital trial. Jack is the father of Maya who was removed from the custody of her parents after staff accused them of "medical abuse." Her mother, Beata Kowalski, hung herself in her garage on Jan. 7, 2016 after going months without seeing her due to the medical abuse allegations, according to the family's attorney, Greg Anderson.

When he said denying a child computer access isn't child abuse, he is really taking it out of context . We have access to accountability software something we learned about in the Josh Duggar case denying this child a computer is just icing on the cake ! Everything that could give her some small bit of normalcy should be utilized .

I have CRPS and when I was first having symptoms my doctor referred me to a neurologist. The receptionist from my doctor told the nurse at the neurologist that I was a drug seeker. I had only taken what was prescribed for me. However that followed me for years. This is a horrible disorder that is difficult for an adult to deal with. Then your medical team turns on you and your family because they are too lazy to get complete information before they want to tear a family apart.

The social worker did NOT do herself a single favor. She seemed incompetent and callous. I worked at a children's hospital for 10 years. I can specifically recall 5 families that experienced the same situation, including assumed munchausen byproxy, separating the patient from the caregivers in order to give the child a chance to get better. So cringy the way the social worker was yelling when Maya was talking on the phone with her mom. A little professionalism and thoughtful communication with Maya's parents would have gone a long way in this case!!!

30:34 omg, is this judge for fu*king real????. The judge keeps saying “what I need to know….”. It’s really about what the jury needs to know. And it’s up to the attorneys to decide what they think the jury needs to know. He really just needs to shut up and sustain or overrule objections only. He’s definitely got an attitude problem. I’d even go so far as to say that he is highly narcissistic & should probably be sent to “Nemours” for a mental health program himself…in the event that he’s cleared of having Narcissistic Personality Disorder, that is. If I was the defence, I’d be putting in a motion to have this judge dismissed and start over with a judge who is fair & impartial…and who isn’t a complete a**hole. And if I was the prosecution, I would just ask the father “did Maya make these statements between October 7 2016 and January 13 2017?” Then the father can simply answer yes or no. And if the defence pushed for a more definitive date, the father can simply say it was between 7 October 2016 and 13 January 2017. Cos really he’s simply testifying to the fact that Maya indeed made these complaints about mistreatment towards her by the hospital staff. Why the f*ck is the judge asking questions on behalf of the prosecution or defence at all??? I can’t stand him!!

Tragic all the way around. An adversarial relationship developed between the mother, social workers, and CPS. Understandably, mom was frantic. IMHO, all involved wanted to help Maya. I'm surprised more effort was not made to engage mom and really listen to her. I speak from experience as a mom and a former CPS worker. It was the only professional job I could get out of grad school. Awful experience, and I got out as soon as I could. Why weren't treating MDs and experienced therapists more active in triage meetings with the parents? Mom must of felt so much guilt and shame. Still 200 million is a lot of money, and the family was already awarded over 2 million from CPS. Childrens' hospital serve a lot of sick kids who can't otherwise afford medical care.

Oh I believe it was adversarial from the get go. I saw the social worker being questioned and she was despicable. It seemed obvious ( to me at least. ) she had her own agenda and had her mind made up from the beginning. That's when I would've hired an attorney pronto, if someone told me I couldn't see ny child, only talk to her once a week SUPERVISED and could only talk about certain topics, none of which were pertinent. Uh NO, that's a hard no, I wouldn't tolerate that crap. Social worker appeared to be on her high horse and was determined she was going to be in control at all times, it was sickening. I really think she should've been criminally charged.

What is wrong with the attorney for the family? It would appear that the father had little or no preparation, and in a case against a huge hospital and asking for a lot of money, the attorney should want his witnesses to be better prepared. I feel so sorry for the dad, because of the way he is being treated by these impatient people. But his attorney should have made sure the guy was prepared. Doesn't he have staff that could have put his notes into a format easy to read and use on the stand? I do have questions about a few things that Maya said, though. If her pain got really bad, how would she be able to eat, tool around the hospital, play the piano, etc? Makes little sense, because typically severe pain only gets worse if not treated, and you will get sicker and sicker. I did not see any signs of her moving around a lot, like that young lady doc said she would do when nobody was there, but it IS a little hard to believe that ALL hospital staff were lying about a child. I want to see Maya testify. Her poor dad seems overwhelmed, and it's a shame our courts allow these attorneys and judges to treat people badly. He seems embarrassed. Nobody should be shamed because of being unprepared. Btw, I did not like that Cathy person at all. I can believe she's shady as all get out. I also can imagine that the dark haired young doctor is an impatient and cold provider who would take one look at a person claiming to have chronic pain and call them an addict, just like lots of docs do now because of government overreach into medical treatments using legal opioids. That's got to stop. Call your legislators! Legal opioids did not cause the opioid crisis, it was street fentanyl, and addiction is rare in chronic pain patients. That's FACTUAL.

I have to agree to disagree with some opinions here that the judge is exasperated with the Dad. I believe the judge is irritated with the situation, and more with the lawyer/s of the dad who didn't prepare him for the questioninga😅 with basic knowlege including and especially dates. I mean, *their own lawyers* were the ones asking thetheirre questions, they should know better!! In fact, *the judge actually helps the plaintiffs by clarifying and pinpointing statements clearly to specific dates and statements that could be attributed directly to Maya.* Without that, their case would be heresay. So please look at it from a 360° view and listen with your "law" degree and not your heart or empathy degree. 🤩 Remember, the judge played a huge role in directing the jury on their verdict, how to get there and how to think about the testimony they heard. Without the judge's guidance, this case could have gone in a much different direction and the award *MUCH LESS*. 🙌

@@spayneutersaveslives9687just don‘t comment on things you have no idea about - if the judge was biasd he would NOT have clarified the plaintiffs viewpoint and would have left it up the the lawyers who did an awful job…and no, the judge doesn‘t feel bad for the dad he simply does his job: he is simply unbiased and makes sure both sides get heard with clarity that‘s it and that‘s all there is - no emotional interpretation needed of how the judge might feel at this moment but hey then still saying he‘s biased, you guys watch too much TV and have too littel braincells to comprehend what an actual judges responsibility is.

So. The dad never saw abuse but relied on his daughters comments? Just maybe mom was medically abusing her daughter and dad was being manipulated by his daughter. That is an actual possibility.

Judge is being fair... Ok people. This is a 50 million $ law suit. Do you think it should be thrown out because the judge isn't being fair? It's actually pretty amazing that this is even at trial.

how selfish was the mother to take her own life and just leave her 10 year old daughter without a mother , at the very time she most needed her and her support , makes me feel even more sorry for this poor girl and family , she chose to just run away, meanwhile her father shows amazing strength , courage , and support , as parents are supposed to, suffering from depression myself , my kids kept me alive , as i could never walk out of their lives , is stick around for them no matter how low i got, fearing if i killed myself , later in life , they would blame their self for me choosing to take my own life and leave them

You may not understand how traumatized this mother was. As an RN and a mother of 2 adult children I am outraged at how the system treated this RN and mother of a very sick child who was trying to advocate for her baby. She was trying to find a cure or at least mitigate the symptoms of a very rare and incurable disease. She no doubt felt abused and beat up - hopeless with no light at end of the tunnel! Her depression and eventual suicide may help others by shining a light on the failings of a broken healthcare system. She is a heroine, still fighting for her baby in death!

This girl is far from a victim she faced hopeless ness and grief and decided to get up and fight harder putting rocks in her backpack just to gain strength on her own. She was 10 years old... she was held down and photographed in her bra while yelling no.. they had no right .
