Anyone who has adaptive cruise control, which BTW I love to use, has driven in heavy rain, will know that it can suddenly go haywire and shut down. What would happen if the system determined the heavy rain was a stopped vehicle? The technology for the AEB is already there up to 90 MPH, Stop and Go Adaptive Cruise will maintain a safe braking distance, and automatically slow down and stop when traffic backs up. I had it in a 2018 F-150 and used it every day. But a system that does NOT keep you at a safe stopping distance and will brake without warning, that is Dangerous. Teach people to drive like they are supposed to and the crashes will go way down. Too many people taigate, too many drive Way to fast over the speed limits, and way too many are doing so while on their phones watching videos.

There's so many "features" on vehicles now, they are unaffordable to the average family. Now that the interest rates are so high, who can afford the monthly payments for a new car. Make cars simpler, more reliable, and CHEAPER.

looking at this as a mechanic, this will also cause issues with the breaking system, causing the breaks to overheat with that less breaking, and or swerving by brake pull, let alone flat spotting tires....

Great technology when it doesn't freak out. Same as lane drift tech..i had a poorly calibrated rental car that tried to jerk me into adjacent lane when it didn't need to be doing anything and i had to fight it to not hit anything. The technology can be WORSE than not having it.
